It turned out the hardest thing that Danny would ever have to do, was open his eyes. He could fight ghost after ghost fine with no problems. But being completely and utterly spent and passing out then having to wake up afterwards was like trekking through the seven circles of hell.

even though his eyes were closed his ears were wide open. Were the League fighting over who got custody of him? Maybe he was dreaming or hallucinating, those were very viable options.

"He could come to stay with me Iris and I, I just know she'd love him." That voice sounded very close. Was the Flash carrying him? And swaying with him?

"You know he would be better off with the Bat-Family, I can send him to the best schools and give him a nice home." Batman was fighting for him?

"You know he doesn't trust you Bats, not since the failsafe." That was Robin. How many people were here just watching him sleep?

"He could come to Mystic Manor, we've got plenty of room." Now Constantine was fighting for him. What on Earth was going on?

He let out a groan alerting everyone that he was now awake. He took in a shuddering breath in and almost cried out when he breathed out. Breathing wasn't normally this painful. He slowly peeled his eyes open, only to be met by a faceful of the Flash's chest. He huffed in annoyance and looked up to the hero.

"If I put you down you would've been batnapped." Flash explains to him simply. Danny nods in understanding.

"Can I be put down now then?" His voice came out cracked and small, the fact that Flash managed to understand him at all was a miracle in itself. Flash gently puts him down on the sofa, in between Artemis and Constantine. Suddenly there was a glass of water in front of him, he reached forward and took the glass from the outstretched hands. He looked up to see who gave it to him and smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Megan." He took a small sip and relished the feeling of the cool liquid that soothed his throat.

It took him a few minutes for the glass to empty, and the whole time the others were quiet and staring at him.

"You have questions?" They all nodded, "ok."

"Why did you never tell us you were Phantom, Danny?" Megan asked as she took a seat across from him. Her friend had pretty much lied to her from the moment they met, she had every right to be upset. He lied about his parents, his home situation, the fact that he was safe, and that they knew each other more than just in school.

"At first, I didn't tell anyone who I was because of my parents." He took in a deep breath, lent forward to rest his elbows on his knees, "They were ghost hunters, and I'm technically half dead. Erm, Sam had a way of putting it, she use to say that I was a living corpse possessed by my own ghost. And I guess that's true. I would often hear how that wanted to tear apart my ghost half molecule by molecule, I was so scared to tell them, but the horrible thing was that all the ghosts that I fought knew who I was, human and ghost. But after, erm, after everyone was killed I had to keep it a secret cause Vlad was after and had somehow enlisted the help of the world's best detective. I couldn't tell anyone cause I didn't know who I could trust."

"But you told Billy and Constantine?" Batman asked from his dark corner.

"Yeah, Billy found out by accident, I got drunk on Halloween without meaning to and changed when we got back to Mystic Manor. And John trapped me in a demon trap and summoned me by mistake, I told him after I had a panic attack about my future evil self."

"Future evil self?!" Wally squawks from the kitchen.

"Yeah, think I might have avoided it though, now that Vlad's in a can."
