ERZA

I wake up with excitement, the first time in my life waking up with the feeling; get up to go the restroom to shave and such before driving to town to do a few more things. I already checked on the time when Rachel's plane lands which it's late, so I have time to spare.

Moments later, I get to my car, press shuffle on my music, and one of Rachel's favorite bands, The Fray, comes on, and it reminds me of her singing out loud in the library because it was the first time I noticed that she was the ins for me. There's so much traffic between the Halloween and liquor stores; people, especially girls, are getting the most revealing, slightly slutty costumes like a sexy cop or devil.

I usually don't dress up for a stupid holiday like Halloween because my only costume is being invisible; when walking into the store,
walk around to every outfit until something is calling my name, it's an angel suit, and it's perfect.

...

After buying the costume, I drive to a jewelry store to buy something special a while later. I walk in all I see are expensive and shiny gems.

"Welcome sir, I'm Owen, and how may I help you today?" he asks as adjusting his humorous suit, "Yeah, do you happen to have lockets of necklaces?" I answer, pull out my phone to show him a picture of my idea of a gift; He nods yes, leads me to one glass window, and goes behind it, "Is there any writing you want on the back?".

I grab a piece of paper and pencil, write down something, and slide it in front of him, "Can you please engrave this in the back of the necklace along," I tell him, showing him a picture of Rachel and me, "This picture inside?" I ask, and he nods and smiles, "Yes, I will do that, just let me print out the picture and do the rest," he tells me. I nod and leave the store. I can't wait to see the finished product, but I'm more excited to see her reaction.

...

Hours later, it's eight as I finish up exact details like placing more throw pillows in the fort; luckily, Rachel went crazy when buying them because she said you could never have enough of comfort; she texted me minutes ago that she's almost home since she took a cab.

I already ordered the pizza, her favorite cheese pizza with onion, olives, mushrooms, and breadsticks, earlier while I was running around the apartment to make sure everything was perfect until I heard the door unlocking and suitcases rolling on the hardware floor.

"Honey, I'm home," I hear Rachel's sweet voice coming from downstairs; I quietly go over to the closet to change into my suit, which I fucking hate wearing, but it's for her. As I unbuttoned my jeans, her footsteps came closer and closer.

"Ezra?" she howls out.

I keep quiet, tuck my black dress shirt into my dress pants to give myself more time before I walk out and open the bathroom door to see her standing by the bedroom, all beautiful and shocked. She looks gorgeous in her yellow sweater with jeans squeezing every curve so nicely.

"Surprise," I yell out, go behind as wrapping my arms around her and kiss her cheek, "You like it?"; Rachel faces me, a single happy tear falls down, and she smiles, "Like it? I love it!" she says, hugs me with legs wrapping my waist, and I spin her around a couple of times.

Rachel gets down, go over to the bed, runs her finger along with the rose petals that are shaped of a heart with an 'R' and 'E,' but the heart isn't bigger enough as my love is for her in a short amount of time, "This is so beautiful," she said, lifts some rose petals to her nose and takes in the sweet smell; I look around the room as the feeling of something missing, her gift.
