With school finally out, summer vacation had officially started.

One-hundred and four days of playtime and fun!

At least, it's suppose to be.

Piper couldn't help but let out a suffering sigh as she sat at her window and watched the neighborhood kids play around and ride their bikes or go swimming. While she was stuck inside because her parents were to worried about her burning up under the summer sun.

Piper was born an Albino. White hair, redish-pink eyes and pale skin.

Luckily, her case wasn't to bad. It was true that she literally burn up under the sun and run the risk of skin cancer but her doctors said that putting on her special sunscreen would protect her enough. If not, wear a big hat. Her eyesight wasn't that bad but they were still a bit sensitive to light so she has to carry around sunglasses just in case.

But, either than that, she was luckily enough to not have to serious of a case.

But that didn't stop her parents from being constantly worried about her. She couldn't even go to a public school! She has to take online classes so she can stay in the protection of her house!

She loves her parents and all, but this was suffocating!

At least her parents still gave her weekends and vacations like normal school would.

"Piper? Sweety?" Her father knocked on her bedroom door and cracked it open to peek inside. "I got a call from your grandma. She wants to know if you want to spend summer vacation at her house in Danville."

Piper grinned with excitement.

Finally! Some freedom!

"Now remember, she can't be outside for to long and she does go out, she needs her sunscreen." Momma Evelyn fret as she watched her mother load up her daughter's stuff into the car.

"And she has to have her sunglasses on her at all times. Oh! And make sure she covers up! And don't forget her checkups with the Doctor once every other week!" Papa Liam added as he helped with the luggage.

"I know, I know!" Grandma Eleanor put her hands on her hips and turned to Evelyn. "Honestly, you two worry more than Piper does and she's the one with the condition here. I promise she'll be fine in Danville. There's plenty of nice kids on our street for her to make friends." She huffed at them. "Lord knows she needs some. You two keep her locked inside all day."

As Eleanor got into the driver's seat, Piper rolled down the back window to wave to her parents. "By Mom! By Dad! I promise I'll be careful!"

"That's all we ask, sweety." Her dad told her.

Her mom waved back as the car pulled out of the driveway. "By darling! We love you!"

Danville was actually a really nice neighborhood.

Grandma was right about there being plenty of children to play with since Piper had seen them playing on the sidewalks or in people's yards.

The young girl was practically shaking with excitement to finally meet with people her age! "Grandma, have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"Only the entire way here." The old lady chuckled. "But I don't mind it. I know I'm pretty great."

They pulled into the driveway of Grandma Eleanor's house and Piper grabbed her cloak and practically shot out of the back car.

"Slow down, little Dove." Eleanor called out to her granddaughter. "You got your stuff with you?"

Piper nodded and adjusted the hood of her cloak. "Yes! I put on my sunscreen when we got into town and I have my sunglasses in my pocket!"
