*cue deep voice that tells you about the ancient scrolls predicting the Wind Rangers & the kick ass theme song*
If Tori is like how I remember her, then she'll be heading off to do some surfing, and I would have about five minutes to grab everything that I need to stow away in her minivan and find out once and for all what she has been up to for the last year. Cause I kinda miss my older sister, she has been running off with Shane and Dustin for the last three months, and even though I get on well Dustin, Shane is still more guarded and refuses to at least let me join in on their hobby talks. I know my fair share of motocross riding, surfing, and skateboarding, of course since they never talk about these things when I'm around they think I don't know anything about them. So I was already at the beach and was just waiting for Tori to show up so I could sneak into her minivan and hide myself away, and when she finally showed up she immediately started to get ready and hit the water, and now was my chance.
I had somehow managed to stow away, perfectly, in her minivan that she drives, so perfectly that she wouldn't even notice. I heard a gentle beeping, and knew that was Tori's alarm on her watch,so it was probably time for her to be done here. She had gotten dried up and changed, and hung her surfboard on the ceiling of the back part where I was hidden. And she was off driving again, I waited until I heard the van come to a stop.
"Where are they?" Tori spoke with an annoyed tone, I knew it! She was meeting up with Shane and Dustin again. "Come on," She quietly urged. Just then I heard the sound of a skateboard. And then a thump against the van.
"Boo! You miss me?" Shane teased my sister. I could only guess that he was resting his arms on the passenger window and smirking at Tori.
"Dream on." Tori playfully scoffed at his words, and Shane got into the van. "Where's Dustin?" she asked whilst Shane put his seatbelt on. Seagulls called and quickly flapped at their wings to get away from who one can only assume to be Dustin. I could hear Shane sigh and was about to say he didn't know, when something must have caught his attention. Cause he let out a slight groan of disapproval. "Late as usual." Tori said, sounding unhappy with the boy who wore yellow everyday. Just as she said that I could hear heavy footsteps racing around the van to the side door, telling me that Dustin was going to get in the door beside me.
"Aw dude" Shane uttered, the door opened and Dustin hoisted himself into the minivan. I had totally ignored it when Shane spoke as a motocross backpack was thrown over in my direction, which would cause some bruising later. But I focused back in on my sister and her two male friends, only to hear what I'm assuming is Dustin and Shane clasping hands with each other the bro kind of way.
"What's up dude?" Dustin asked Shane, before kicking the figurative lights out of me in trying to get into the seat between the two friends of his. And Tori started up the van again. Not even five minutes into driving around, Tori began to speak again.
"How can you guys be late every single time? I couldn't do that even if I tried." I mean, it was a weird thing to brag about it. But she was right, she has never ever been late. Not even when we tried to leave home late to skip class back in middle school. I was so pissed by that day, that I never skipped with Tori again.
"Maybe that's because you're the reliable one, even if your clingy little sister is following you." I heard Shane's voice say. And my eyes started to fill up with tears.
"Hey dude, lay off Sierra. Alright? She may stick to Tori like glue, but have you ever seen someone in Blue Bay Harbour actually try to talk to Sierra? People avoid her like she's got the plague. Besides, Tori and I actually enjoy hanging out with Sierra. Maybe it's just you haven't really had time to hang out with her." Dustin defended me, from Shane's words.
"Wait. What does that mean 'The Reliable One'?" Tori shot back at Shane's first statement. And without even looking I knew that Dustin was being looked down on by the boy he sat next to.
"Look, in any group, there are different kinds of people." Shane began to explain his statement. From the shift in the minivan, that wasn't the road, Dustin was sitting upright out of excitement.
"Totally true. Think like the Power Rangers." Dustin's excited voice justified Shane's words.
"The Power Rangers? You gotta be joking?." Tori commented, trying to shut the nerdy topic down, before the two continued.
"Look, there's always the mellow, reflective dude. That's me." Dustin deducted his role in the group. That caused me to internally giggle at his deduction, because the only reflection that I've ever seen Dustin do was to do with his motocross riding.
"And then there's the risk-taker, also known as me." Shane confidently added, I knew that he was checking himself out in the rearview mirror. Dustin and Tori lightly laughed at him, before I wondered what role I was if I was in their group.
"And you're just the reliable one, Tori." Dustin rounded off the conversation. I gently sighed and wiped the previously formed tears away from my eyes, and smiled at the trio.
"What about Sierra? I think she's just as much of the group as the rest of us. And maybe we should tell her about the school." Tori asked the boys.
"Tori...." Shane dragged out her name in a warningly manner.
"The school's a secret, I know, but she's still my family. Mom and Dad refused to tell her the truth. Dustin and I can both see that when we talk about the school and change before she overhears anything, it really hurts her feelings. She's gone nearly two whole months not knowing the truth. And I hate having to hide it from her." Tori explained her reasoning.
"Maybe after training, we can all convince Sensei to at least let us give a vague understanding to Sierra." Dustin reasoned with the two. "Oh, and Tor'? Sierra would definitely be the 'Pink Power Ranger' of the group." he brought the conversation back to his geeky Power Rangers.
"Why?" Shane judged the goofball.
"Because the Pink Rangers are the cute ones. No offence Tori." Dustin explained his reason for that conclusion.
"Power Rangers? Whatever." Tori shrugged the two idiots off. I was too stunned to speak, but I could feel the blush forming on my cheeks.
