The next day I excused myself from ninja training so Shane and I could have our agreed get to know each other better-day. Tori and Dustin finally got him to agree after their last battle. So we agreed to go skateboarding around the city centre and just talk. Of course, the only problem was that Shane was still beating himself about yesterday's training. Eventually he did ask me why I thought they were continuously failing the simulation.
"Hey Sierra." He started, I gave him a loud hum to tell him I was listening. "Why do you think we keep failing the simulation?"
"Umm...Keep in mind that I don't have as much training as you guys." I started, trying to ease my opinion onto him.
"Yeah, I know, but you're like really good at fighting by yourself. And I've seen you train with the other two. So how come when I fight with them in that stupid simulation it doesn't work out as well when you do it?" He re-tried. I know Sensei will be mad at me for telling him, so maybe I could give him an easy answer without telling him the right one.
"Ok, you know your last battle with Lothor's monster?" I asked, he hummed in agreement. "It worked out well because, in my opinion, you guys were as if you were on the same sort of wavelength. You know the comic book Power Rangers have to be able to use their advantages and disadvantages to help each other out in battle. Like the mighty morphin rangers, yeah the black, green and red rangers were all good at karate and kickboxing. But they could turn to the yellow and pink ranger for defence and dodging blows with flips, since the girl rangers did gymnastics. And as for the statical odds, they always relied on the blue ranger since he was the genius of the team." I responded. He seemed to have nodded in acceptance and understanding.
"So everyone should have some kind of assigned role? Like I do the fighting, Tori defence, and Dustin....maybe not him." Shane trailed off thinking of tactics.
"Look Dustin may not alway be there in the head at times, but you know that if the school wasn't taken away by Lothor, Dustin would've been chosen as the yellow ranger eventually. It is inevitable that you three were going to be chosen, I had found out sooner I probably would have been training with you guys right now. But why you all fail is because you don't listen to one another, Tori told you yesterday not to go for the scroll alone, there were one too many Kalazak's for the two of them alone. I personally wouldn't leave my teammates behind for my own desire to prove myself to Sensei." I patted Shane's shoulder in comfort.
"Yeah, you're right. You're like the reasoner of the team, even if you can't fight beside yet. But work hard Sierra, and soon Sensei will let you join our side in battle, I know it." Shane said determined to support my training.
"Were you just nice to me right now?" I joked, he playfully rolled his eyes. And we continued to skate our way through the city centre. We eventually made our way back to Storm Chargers, and Shane sat himself on the counter window to where Dustin repairs things, he said that he needed some time to think about what I had said. I don't know exactly what Shane and Kelly were talking about, but I could hear Kelly talking about trusting her employees and friends. Shane was probably going to say something when we all heard screaming from outside.
"What was that?" Kelly and I said at the same time.
"Stay here I'll check." Shane said to Kelly, well he meant to both of us. But hell is there any chance I'm staying out of this one. As soon as Shane wouldn't see me follow I went after him. We came back to the city centre. When we stopped beside one another we saw people stuck together and the next thing they had turned into a weird looking stone statue made of about twenty-six people stacking on top of one another. Then a monster walked out from behind the tower of stone people. Shane got into a fighting stance, and followed on-suit.
