"You think that Stiles- skinny, defenseless, Stiles- is the Nogitsune? A dark, powerful spirit."

Base Of Staircase
Walking down the corridor to and past the base of the stairs, my coyote hearing picks up a door being opened and two sets of footsteps walking up to a desk as the nurse calls them over. It appears that we have a new inmate. I halt my walking and hone my coyote hearing in on the conversation taking place up the staircase.
Nurse, "First 72 hours, there's no phone calls, no emails, no visitors. We will be taking you from here to a brief physical. In the morning, you'll be assessed by a psychologist. Speak to a social worker, and attend group therapy."
An older guy then says in an apprehensive tone as he puts down a pen, "I feel like we're forgetting something."
The nurse continues droning on as she had a thousand times before while placing slippers on the desk, "You will be wearing these, Stiles. No laces allowed. You don't have a belt, do you? And please, empty your pockets in here..." She puts a plastic box on the in front of them.
The older guy then says in the same tone as before while looking around, "Your pillow. Your pillow! We forgot your pillow."
The younger one- Stiles replies, "Dad, it's okay."
The father states, "No, no- you're never going to be able to fall asleep. We- we gotta go back-"
Stiles interrupts him, "It's fine, Dad. I don't need it."
The old guy keeps rambling, "I can't believe I forgot it! I mean, every time that we've ever stayed in a hotel, the first thing you pack is your pillow."
Stiles, trying to reassure his father whilst placing his thing in the box, says, "You can bring it tomorrow. It's all right."
The Dad- overwhelmed- stands up and says, "Okay, you know what? Stop. Stop. Enough! Stiles, get your stuff. I'm not checking you in here if you're not going to get a good night's sleep..."
Stiles gently replies as he stands up and gives him a hug, "Dad... I haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks."
What kind of crazy person checks themselves into a nuthouse? Well I guess me, as I can get out of here anytime. I'm just waiting for the signal. Mother had insisted that I go here, so when they presented my case at court I pretended that I had blacked out after they told me that I was adopted and can't remember a thing up until the neighbours came knocking on my door with the police. So, when my lawyer presented the idea of Eichen House, the jury leapt at the idea. After a while I began showing signs of getting better, showing that I was getting over the heart wrenching guilt ( which is totally all acting by the way, but I'm getting really good ), and remorse, for slaughtering my entire household. But... I get relapses. They're pretty serious, I end up hurting myself and they have to postpone my release until I appear okay again. The only positive thing is that I know every inch of the place, and since the orderlies practically raised me, their rather fond of me too. Which is a bonus cause I never get sedated unless I'm hurting myself, and they get me an extra pudding on my birthday.
As Stiles' and the nurse's footsteps approach I'm snapped out of my thoughts. I hear a voice from the top of the stairs, "I'm part of the bird that's not in the sky..."
Glancing up I see a boy tying a length of sheet around the railing, following the length with my eyes, I see it attached over a pipe on the roof and then back down and around his neck. Not very original.
