I won't be able to add any parts next week. Sorry guys. But chapter six will be long to make up for it. And it's also one of my favorite chapters too. Thanks for reading. You're all great!

Chapter Five: Head Down
She gave her mother another hug before taking one of her suitcases into her hand. She felt guiltier with each step. Aidan and Aednat gave her a few days to say goodbye. She hadn’t seen either of them until that morning when they came to pick her up in the same Black Bentley she now hated.
In their few days together, her dad came home to see her off. They’d treated her out to dinner, bought her new things, and let her spend the day at the spa with Jazmine who was slightly less pissed for that ‘fake’ text message she sent her. It scared the crap out of her Jazmine said. She almost died—so she claimed. Prentiss almost cried as she went on theatrical-mode. She would miss her over exaggerating, dramatized best friend. Saying goodbye was so hard.
But she had to do it to protect them.
Her mother and father seemed oblivious to the fact that Aidan and Aednat weren’t. Although her mother confessed to Prentiss about feeling unnerved around Aidan, she never said anything about him being anything but human. She also found it quite strange that the school needed her to move in right away, before her summer classes even started, but with one phone call from Aidan, her fears were soothed. Not trusting either of them was something she had in common with her mother. They both had good reason.
“Let me help you.”
Her dad offered, taking her suitcase with all her new clothes to the car for her. Aidan got out and helped while Aednat strayed to her mother and began a conversation. It was painful to see both her parents now exposed to Aidan and Aednat. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath. As soon as she was gone, no one would bother her parents again.
“What?!”
She exclaimed. Aidan winced.
“I said two demigods whom we trust will be shadowing your parents.”
“I heard what you said. I’m wondering why. I thought you would leave them alone if I came with you?”
Aednat twirled a piece of her hair and looked at Prentiss from the front seat.
“Now that you’re a target, your parents are targets too. If we leave them unprotected then they would be in danger.”
Prentiss stopped long enough to consider. She hadn’t considered before.
“I guess that makes sense.”
She caught the glance they passed between one another but didn’t say anything about it.
The ride continued on for a few more minutes before Prentiss noticed Aednat constantly looking at the rearview mirror. Prentiss looked too and saw a black Chevy dipping across the median through cars. She couldn’t see the driver due to the heavily tinted windows but she could see that they were coming right at them. Aednat looked her dead in the eye and gave her a half-smile which made her flesh crawl. Something wasn’t right.
“That’s a vampire. He is trailing us and he’s not friendly.”
Prentiss squeezed her eyes shut and strapped herself into her seat belt. She felt Aidan take a quick right turn and heard the horn of another car blazing behind them.
“Vampire? Wait, I thought you guys were vampires.”
“Vampires are the newer, more secular form of demigods…we’re the original.”
