Ava's POV I have lived in the Outer banks my whole life with my childhood best friend JJ Maybank we've been with each other since daycare. We would always do something new everyday, everyday was a new adventure for us. We'd go treasure hunting, find new places to explore, go swim and pretend we were in the Olympics, play in the tall grassy fields, surf, and a bunch or other stuff. I always had fun with him and he always found a way to make me laugh even when no one couldn't. We both grew up on the cut which meant that we didn't always have what we wanted or needed but we had each other and that was enough for me. I knew about Luke when his mom left and I hated Luke for being so hateful and cold to JJ. My mom and dad love JJ as their own. They would let him sleepover all the time so we always were together. Then one day my parents call me and tell me that they needed to tell me something. "We are moving to the mainland, Charleston to be exact. I got a job offer that I couldn't refuse. I know this gonna be hard with not having JJ but we will have bigger house and we will be able to buy you everything you want" my dad said as we were sitting in the kitchen. " I don't want to leave or live in a big house, and have new fancy things. I want to stay here in OBX my home with my best friend" I said. My parents look at me with watery eyes and said sorry. I went to my room and cried that night. The next day JJ came over and I told him that I'm leaving and didn't know if I was coming back. "I'm gonna miss you Jay, your my best friend that's why I'm telling you first, I'm telling the pogues tonight at John B's."
JJ's POV My best friend Ava and have always been really close and known each other the longest. She has been by my side since day one and knows about my home life. Her parents are amazing and always welcome me with open arms and open hearts I think that's why she is so sweet, kind, and sees the best in people. She always sees the brighter side of every situation. She always finds a way to make me feel better weather if I'm mad, sad, depressed, tired she always knows what to do or say to make me smile and that's why she is the most important person in my life. I'm gonna miss her when she leaves this weekend, I don't know what I'm gonna do with out her. I was devastated when she told me that her dad got a job in Charleston and that they were moving. When the pogues found they were bummed out too but not as much as I was. The morning she left was the worst day of my life. I wanted to give her something to remember me by so she wouldn't forget me especially since we didn't know if we would see each other again. I made her a bracelet with "P4L 8/25/2008" which is the day we met and became best friends.

"I hope you like it it took me the whole week to make it, I made it for you so you wouldn't forget about me" I told her when I went to met her to say goodbye. " I can't ever forget you JJ, any of you. I'm gonna miss you so much" she cried and we all had a group hug. "Ava we gotta go before the traffic starts" her mom called out. She got in her dads truck in the backseat and waived bye while we stood there waving back.
