Derek POV;

Derek woke up with a roar that could only count as feral. The pain of losing a pack bond was like losing a limb. The pain of losing a mate was even worse, even if the bond wasn't completed yet.

It felt like his heart was cut out straight out of his chest.

The fog he had felt for the last couple of weeks was lifted, but the pain made him crumble to the floor. He withered on the floor, grasping at the broken bond and hoping that he could pull it back. He was panting heavily, and he could feel cold shifting over his body from the breeze that blew through the apartment.

He started sobbing uncontrollably, not knowing who it was he lost. The pain was too much and blocked everything other.

Derek could feel his beta shift come forward, and he roared again.

His anchors weren't enough.

He was lost.

He couldn't be found, not by himself.

He needed his mates, but they were gone.

He let the beast take over.

Somewhere he heard a door open, and he snarled, transforming fully into his second form. The form that could comfort him for now, now that all other was lost.

''What the hell?!'' A shriek sounded. But he didn't understand the words anymore.

He snarled at the intruder. Warning them off, but the intruder didn't listen.

''If I wanted a puppy, I would've asked for it!'' They yelled before throwing something at him.

He howled in pain for a moment from the strange intrusion before he took control again.

Without a second warning, he lunged at the intruder. Biting, scratching, and tearing through clothes and flesh. They screamed in pain, and he reveled in it.

They tasted black as tar, and he shook out his snout, trying to get rid of the nasty taste. But he was soon back on the attack when he saw that it wasn't done.

When he finally didn't hear another heartbeat, he deemed the kill a success.

He knew that the flesh wasn't for eating. And left the body, he made his way out of the structure he was in. Sniffing out where he needed to go. Soon he found himself in the forest. Between the trees, he took off on a run.

Instinct telling him where to go.

When he finally reached a house, he whined. The house smelled like smoke and death but also like family.

He made his way up the porch, whining when he smelled all the fear and death inside.

The hurt inside him wasn't gone, but he would stay here for a while.

Somewhere he knew that his pack would find him. He lets out another howl, full of sorrow and grief. Hoping that his pack would come soon.
