Wilbur woke up with a jolt and immediately smiled. It was Saturday. Saturday meant he would go out with his father all day long. He loved spending time with his dad, they had always been very close, at least for as long Wilbur could remember. For the past few years, every single Saturday they would have a father-son day, consisting of going to the park, getting ice cream, cooking dinner and watching a movie together. It was something they both enjoyed a lot and could look forward to all week.

When they arrived at the park, Wilbur saw that one of his best friends, Louis, was there. Wilbur ran up to him to say hi, and decided to play together for a bit while his dad was watching and talking to Louis's mother. Louis and Wilbur went onto the seesaw, the merry-go-round, had competitions on the monkey bars and attemted to make sand castles, but weren't very successful. But after about an hour, Louis' mom called him to her and unfortunately he had to go home. Wilbur asked his father if he could push him on the swings for a while and he agreed.

Wilbur's favorite part about going to the park was without a doubt the swings, his father was a very strong man and would always push him as high as he could possibly go without going around. Wilbur had asked his father to push harder so he could go around lots of time, but he always refused, claiming that it was very dangerous. Still, Wilbur loved going on the swings; It felt like flying! He could do this for hours on end, without stopping, but of course his father eventually got tired and they stopped. But that meant that it was time to go and get ice cream!

If there's one thing Wilbur loved more than swings it was ice cream. His very favorite was definitely cookies and cream, he loved it. Since they would go to the same ice cream place every saturday, He chose it every single week, no fail. His dad would always choose pistachio. Disgusting, in Wilbur's opinion. He had tried it a couple of months ago, when they went to the ice cream place for the first time, when it just opened. He had hated it and wondered how his father could even like it.

There was one other reason Wilbur loved going to the ice cream place, and that was the daughter of the owner, Niki, who was also his best friend at school. She was a short, dainty girl, about the same age as Wilbur. She wore big round glasses and had pink hair. Wilbur thought she was very pretty. She would always be at the store on Saturday, and would always wait for Wilbur to come in and immediately run up to him when he eventually arrived. Niki would sit with him and his father, and they would talk while enjoying their ice cream together. She always chose the strawberry flavor. Wilbur would always joke that it matched her hair. It was the same color pink.

After finishing their ice cream, Wilbur's father would bring him to the grocery store to get the ingredients for dinner. Wilbur loved cooking, and he loved it even more if his father would let him help with it. Usually he would help his mother with dinner while his father was at work, but Saturdays it was his father who he would help.

They sat in the car in front of the store (Walmart) and were looking through a cooking book Wilbur's father had recently bought him for Christmas. He remembered opening it and being so excited to cook every single brand new recipe in the book. He had smiled brightly and hugged his dad while thanking him. Currently, they were looking through it to decide what recipe they would make today. Ooooh, how about that one! Wilbur exclaimed when he saw a recipe of Crispy fried turkey with a homemade sauce and homemade fries.

"Turkey? you know you don't like turkey Wilbur"

"Yes I do"

"No you don't"

"Yes I do"

"No you don't"

"Do"

"Dont"

"DO"

His father sighed while putting his head in his hands. " Wilbur , love," he said with a sigh," Last time you ate turkey was during Thanksgiving, remember that? You said it was the worst thing you've ever tasted and swore you would never eat it again". " Mmmmh" Wilbur went back deep in his thoughts.
