"BYE DAD!" Wilbur yelled while running out of the door to get into his mother's car. They had lived in their new home for about a month now, and today was Wilbur's first day at his new school. It was also the day his mother would start her new job. You could clearly tell she was very nervous about it. She had been stressing for days. "Are you excited for your first day, Wilbur?" She asked right when he got into the car. He nodded and nervously smiled, and they went on their way.

It was a short drive to the school, so they arrived only a few minutes later. Wilbur said bye to his mother after insisting she didn't have to come out with him and, to his embarrassment, received a kiss on the cheek. He got out of the car and walked toward the crown. He suddenly regretted his decision to make his mother stay in the car since he didn't know anyone and nearly all the other kids had a parent with them. He nervously stood close to the crowd of people, which mainly consisted of crying kids and mothers trying to comfort them. Wilbur started panicking a little, but then the boy he met at the park, Ted, walked up to him.

"Hey, Wilbur!" He exclaimed. " I didn't know you would be here, I think you might be in my class!" This calmed Wilbur down, he was very glad to have a friend with him. Wilbur and Ted stayed around for a while just talking and waiting. After a few minutes, the bell rang, and Ted went to his mother, who was talking to some other parents, to say bye, and they eventually went inside. Some kids were still crying over their mothers. "We're in second grade now, why are they still crying over their mothers? Such babies" Ted scoffed. "It's the first day of school, it's often scary for people." Wilbur reasoned while he sat down in the classroom. " It's weird," Ted answered. Wilbur wanted to argue, but before he could say anything, he got interrupted by their teacher, a young-looking woman with big round glasses and blond hair.

"Hey, class!" She started. "My name is Miss Lovet, though I would prefer you call me Miss or Puffy. I will be your teacher for this year. I hope we will all enjoy ourselves together. Let's all introduce ourselves!" The class groaned. Puffy took attendance and everyone introduced themselves one by one. They moved all the desks and chairs to the side and sat in a circle to play games to learn each other's names. Wilbur was actually really enjoying it. Puffy was really nice and the other kids in his class didn't seem too bad. Puffy gave them a bit of free time to talk to each other. Wilbur talked to a few classmates but stayed with Ted most of the time.

Soon, it was break time. Wilbur and Ted walked outside to go have lunch and settled down on a bench on the side of a big field. While Wilbur got his lunch box out (Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a Mars) 2 other boys came up to them, one who he had talked to earlier in class. He had introduced himself as Jared and Ted had told Wilbur they were long-time friends and that Jared didn't live very far from their apartment building. The other boy's name turned out to be Luca. Soon enough, the four boys were talking and laughing as if they had been friends for years. Wilbur was really enjoying it, he still really missed his old home, but he enjoyed it here and his new friends were very nice. He genuinely thought he would be able to enjoy it there.

"It's a Sunday, there is no way you always have to go to work on a Sunday!" Wilbur's father yelled from the living room. Wilbur was sat in his room, doing his homework. During the past few months, he has noticed that his parents had started fighting a lot. He didn't understand why. He knew his mother was gone a lot for work and his father didn't like that, but he didn't get why he would be mad? She's just working right? "I don't know Jeffrey, they want me in today!" He heard his mother respond. "You work in a school, what in the heavens are you even doing there on Sunday?" Is there something you need to tell me Carole?" "Really Jeff, do you not trust me? I'm so done with you! Now let me leave or I'll be late!" Wilbur heard the door slam, and after a few minutes saw his mother walk towards the car through his window. She got in the car and drove off.
