Penny had pulled me back down into my seat at the exact moment chaos seemed to break out around the hall. Whispering, insulting, some even were yelling. The amount of jealousy surrounding me was almost overwhelming.
"Your hands..." Penny whispered. They were bleeding again. I could feel it but at the moment I didn't care. My eyes didn't leave Harry as he retreated out of sight along with the other champions.
Penny pulled me up, away from the Ravenclaw table and into the main hallway. She stopped right outside the door and we leaned against the wall. Without a word, she took out her wand and healed my wounds again.
"You have to tell me what's going on with you." She muttered. "I've been quiet the past two months but I'm not about to watch you hurt yourself and say nothing."
I couldn't speak. Granted my hearing was still slightly muffled and the brightness of the red flames still was etched onto my vision, making stars appear each time I blinked.
"I heard what you said..." Penny moved so that I was looking at her. "You said his name before Dumbledore did. Did you know?"
I swallowed, the lump in my throat causing my eyes to water. "I don't know." I muttered. "I don't know what's wrong with me. And trust me I'm just as scared about it as you are."
Penny's eyes softened at my words and she pulled me into a hug. I accepted and held on to her so tight I was sure she wouldn't be able to breathe properly.
"Ms Gray?" An older voice echoed down the hall. We broke apart as Professor Flitwick left his spot at the door to approach us. "Sorry but Professor Dumbledore is wanting to speak with you."
I felt my body still in apprehension before I gave him a slight nod and followed, leaving Penny to watch after me in worry. I tried to ignore the burning feeling of her eyes on my back as me and the Professor turned the corner.
No words were spoken between us and I could tell that both of our minds were elsewhere. Mine stuck on the weirdness of my own actions and his stuck on the Goblet. We reached the doorway to the Headmaster's office in silence.
I didn't even hear Flitwick utter the password, although the low sound of the gargoyle moving aside to show a spiral staircase did break me out of my trance. I followed him up, my hands starting to shake in anticipation. Hopefully Dumbledore would give me some clarity on what exactly was happening with me.
Reaching the top of the steps the low light of the room made me blink slightly at the change of scenery. Gadgets of all different kinds were laid on tables around the room. Portraits of old Headmasters talked and slept in their frames. Books upon books lined the walls, scattered amongst bookshelves being dusted by floating feathers.
As I was gazing in awe at the room surrounding me I hadn't realized that Flitwick had retreated back down the stairs and Dumbledore was patiently waiting for me at his desk.
"Have a seat, Ms Gray." He said, gesturing to one of the armchairs sat in front of him. I hurried up the small set of stairs and sat down. "I want to start off saying you are in no way in any trouble, my dear." I nodded quickly, feeling a slight bit of tension release from my shoulders. "I just would like to talk to you about what appears to be happening with you lately. Is that alright?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now I just have a few questions for you..." He trailed off, clasping his hands in front of him on the desk. "Do you have a lot of nightmares, Ms Gray?"
I nodded immediately. No sense in lying to him as I was desperate for answers. He nodded back.
"Do these nightmares sometimes predict the future?"
I hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm not entirely sure, sir." I looked down at my hands. "Usually they are random but I feel like some of my recent ones are different."
"How so?"
"I don't know they just..." I paused for a moment, not wanting to admit what I was about to say. "They seem more real."
I explained to him the last few dreams I've had, including the one that put me in the hospital wing about two months ago. I also explained my visions. His expression didn't change as I spoke.
"I saw you in the Great Hall earlier..." He got up from his chair. "Seemed like you knew something."
"I think I did, sir."
"You knew that Harry's name would be chosen."
I nodded.
"Come with me, Ms Gray." He began to walk towards the right side of the room. A small opening in the wall revealed something that was floating. It was round and appeared to have water inside it. Dumbledore grabbed a vial from one of the shelves on the wall. "Would you mind if I saw some of these nightmares, Ms Gray?"
His question took me back a moment. Saw my nightmares? The question seemed ridiculous but I also knew that there was magic out there that I wasn't aware of. "Why would you need to, sir?"
"I'm going to be completely honest with you...I have no idea what exactly is going on with you." I nodded, an overwhelming feeling of disappointment rising within. If Dumbledore, one of the most wise and powerful wizards, doesn't know what's going on with me then I should be scared, right? "This would just help me to understand so I can help you better, alright?"
I nodded. My stomach turned as he raised his wand to my temple. I felt him move it away, watching as his wrist moved in circles. I could see a faint light from the corner of my eye.
He moved his wand away and towards the vial. A light particle hung to the edge of it, blowing in the invisible wind. "That's strange..." He muttered, making my heart speed up.
"What is, sir?"
"Usually...they're not supposed to be this color." He looked towards the other vials in the cabinet, they all shone a light blue. Mine, however, was black.
"You are free to go, Ms Gray." He muttered, not looking at me once. He was too preoccupied with staring at the aura of my memories. My heart was beating almost out of my chest as I turned around and left.
What's wrong with me?
