"Harry Potter..." A whisper broke through the silence of the dark room.
In the distance, red flames were billowing out of what looked to be a cauldron. No...a goblet. I seemed to be getting closer and closer to it although I was sure I wasn't moving at all.
"Harry Potter..." I was merely five feet away from it now. The flames spat out something from above. A piece of paper.
I watched as it flew through the air above me, twisting and turning in the invisible wind. It just reached above my head before a hand reached out and grabbed it. My hand.
Scribbled in fast writing, his name was written clear as day across the tan piece of parchment.
"Harry Potter..."
I heard a scream to my left. I could make out the voice now as it cried, "No! Cedric!" My heart jumped at the name. Harry was screaming. "Get back to the cup!"
"Kill the spare..." Another voice hissed to my left, making my body grow cold.
"Cedric! Run!" A bright green light filled the room, making me close my eyes. I was shaking now. A scream nestling itself at the base of my throat. I couldn't seem to let it out.
My fists were clenched as I fell to the ground, the scream in my throat was blocking my airway.
I can't breathe.
"Isobel! Isobel, stop!" My eyes shot open at the voice. Penny. Thank god it was Penny.
My cheeks itched from dried tears and my lungs burned from lack of air. I looked up into Penny's dark brown eyes, immediately relaxing at the realization I had just been having another nightmare.
"You need to breathe, okay?" She said calmly, grabbing both sides of my face to keep my head still. "Watch me, watch me..." She took deep breaths, moving her body up and down and taking mine with it. I slowly started to catch my breath, my head becoming lighter.
"I'm sorry..." I mumbled after my breathing had gone back to normal. "I'm sorry..."
"Stop." She quietly said before grabbing my hands out of my lap. Once again my nails had dug so far into my palm to draw blood. Penny drug her wand across both my palms to close the wounds, white marks were still visible tho.
"Go back to sleep..." She said. It took me a moment to realize she wasn't talking to me. The other girls made their way back to their respective beds. I turned around and laid back down on my pillow, knowing that I wasn't going to sleep again but also needing to hide from their looks of pity.
Penny stayed with me the rest of the night, in the morning I didn't mention that she had left me awake alone.
"Do you think he'll be chosen?" Penny whispered to me. I looked up from my sketchpad to see Cedric enter the great hall. He was being pushed by his friends toward the goblet which was now sitting in the middle of the room, a circle surrounding it drawn by Dumbledore in order to keep underage wizards and witches from entering. Cedric walked through it with ease.
I watched as he pulled out a piece of parchment from his robes, looking over towards me and Penny before reaching up and sticking it into the flames. Cheers erupted around the hall. Word had been going around that Cedric was planning on entering and the collective opinion was that he would be the best choice to represent our school. I managed to give him a small smile from across the room as he sat down at a table.
"I don't know."
"Either way he still is crazy for putting his name in." Penny sighed. "Wish I could be like that."
