Night

The sun is setting, Dandara still walking with her daughter through the streets of the destroyed city, the woman looks around, in sadness and disbelief

(( Everything was in place not much time ago. . . the city I grew up. . . destroyed in less than minutes. . . there's no sign of the military or rescuers, they probably would be firing against the giants right now. . . ))

She holds her tears and continues to walk, but she stumbles on something, when she looks down she sees a dead body from a militar, the woman backs away with her daughter immediately, she sees more bodies around, most of them had big bite marks or were smashed under big concrete pieces from buildings, the floor start to trembles, like there was heavy steps coming closer

" Oh God. . ."

The woman feels her body tremble with fear and anxiety, but she needs to hide quickly as the noise is getting louder, she gets Ayana up, holding her in her arms, and runs, searching for a not much damaged place to stay, the noise of steps trembling the ground only gets louder, getting closer, Dandara looks up, and sees a enormous man coming from behind a building, he slowly turns his head towards her, he smiles, with his yellow eyes locked on her, and the woman looks him back with a terrified look

" Wow, so big!"

Ayana says with amusement, but her mother looks at the large man with wide eyes, sweating, she feels her legs tremble, the giant starts to walk in the woman's direction, she runs as fast as she can, her legs trembling, she feels her heart racing

(( Holy shit! Holy shit! I'm can't die!I can't die! I can't die!! ))

Ayana let's out a scream as the giant's large hand tries to reach them, Dandara escapes by jumping inside a market, the woman falls to ground still holding her child, but she doesn't have time to loose, the giant reasures that he's coming after the woman when the market starts trembling like a earthquake, as the products falls from the shelf and the roof gets ripped off, Dandara quickly hides with Ayana in the space under the cashier, while dust and big pieces of rubbles fall everywhere, she can't help but yelp as the giant puts his hand in front of her hidding spot, he searchers for her in the rubbles, and screams in anger when he doesn't find his prey, the giant gets up, and punches the building by the markets side, making it a loud deafening noise, the building falls to the ground, scattering chunks of concrete and dust around, the giant walks away heavily making the floor tremble again, but it sets after some minutes. Dandara breath is shacking, it was a lot of emotion for her

" We did it mommy! We escaped from the giant! "

she looks down at her daughter, even with what just happened, the kid has a optimistic look in her face, the woman gives a little a smile

" Yeah. . . Yeah we did!. . ."

Dandara slowly gets out of her hiding spot, she feels weak, but she have to continue, as night is coming, she needs to find a place to sleep quickly, she walks out of the market, looking around she see no sign of threat, she puts Ayana on the ground, holding her hand, and starting to walk again.

When the night arrives at her apartment, the building was incredibly not damage and stable, the woman enters with her child, looking around, she tries to turn on the lights, there's no electricity, Dandara opens her purse and gets her phone, using the flashlight, she was scared of someone be hiding inside the apartment, she walks quickly to the kitchen, and gets a knife

" Stay close to me okay sweetie?"

Ayana nods, her mother starts to walk, and she goes after her while grabbing the woman's shirt, Dandara checks every part of the place, in conclusion, it's safe

" Great, nobody here."

She goes back to the kitchen, and opens the fridge, the woman smiles in relief as she sees all the food she left there in the morning

" Yes! Here! Eat something sweetie!"

She gives her daughter a plate with a pancake with strawberry filling, Dandara it's more relieved but remains attentive, looking to the window too see if there was any giant outside

" Mommy, you need to eat too!"

The woman looks down at her daughter, the girl extends the plate to her mother, she ate half of the pancake, Dandara smiles, and holds the plate

" Yeah you right. . ."

In the second the woman bites a piece of the pancake, a booming loud noise gets closer to the apartment, everything trembles as the massive man gets closer, making Dandara lose her balance a bit, she quickly gets down the counter with Ayana, the kid yelps in fear, it doesn't take long to a giant pass close to the window of the apartment, his heavy steps make even the organs inside Dandara tremble, she eats the pancake nervously and anxious, her heart racing, and Ayana closes her eyes with fear, a giant yellow eye takes all the space in the window, searching for a prey inside the small apartment, the woman holds her breath, the tension is killing her, but thankfully, the giant goes away without doing anything to the building, the woman sighs in relief.

Some hours after, Dandara puts Ayana to sleep, singing the opening of steven universe, that's her favorite cartoon and she really likes it

" Mommy, did you know that you look like Garnet? "

She aks with a adorable look in her face, while hugging her plushie

" Garnet? Hah what makes you think that?"

" Well, you're strong, tough, cool, and pretty! "

The woman feels a good and warm feeling, she smiles softly

" Oh! Thank you!"

She kisses her forehead

" Now go to sleep sweetie, you look tired."

Ayana holds her mom's hand, squeezing it a bit

" But. . . but if a bad giant appears?. . ."

Dandara looks at the kid, her heart breaks to see her daughter scared like that

" You don't need to worry with that, mommy will be right here to protect you no matter how many giants appear!"

Ayana smiles, looking at her mom with admiration, but she can't keep herself wake for much longer, so she just rests her head on the pillow, and falls to sleep, Dandara sits by the side of the bed, looking at the window, she's tired, but she remains wake for her child safety.
