We arrive at our first venue at 8am the next day. A friendly atmosphere has started to fill the bus again. Everyone is in a good mood and Izzy and Ashton have made up. Excitement literally runs through me in waves, and I can't stop smiling.
I carry my guitars and equipment to the main stage. Me and Izzy have souncheck first, and as I stand on stage in front of the microphone and strumming my guitar, I have this feeling of complete happiness. This is what I want to do. I can't wait to perform when the seats are full and people are going to scream and shout as Izzy busts out a drum solo or I hit a high note without my voice cracking.
As we finish the last song, Luke runs onto stage and lifts me off of the ground and twirls me around . "You're gonna break my guitar idiot, put me down." I say, and laugh when he pulls the guitar off me and runs off stage. I scream and run after him. He carefully places my guitar in the guitar rack, but then continues to run backstage. "Hemmings!" I scream, but he carries on running. I follow him all the way outside. I glance up and see him run up a flight of stairs. I walk up the stairs and onto the roof. When I get to the top, I can't help but smile. Luke is sitting cross legged on a checked blanket with a notebook in his hand. "You." I say, pointing at him, getting my breath back. "Just made me run a long way." I laugh, and walk across the roof. The sun is blazing down, and I wonder how it's so hot in London. The wind lifts my hair up and blows it in all different directions... I keep having to push it behind my ears. "It was worth it though?" He asks, looking up at me and I sit down next to him. "What? I'm sitting on the floor with a weird boy. I don't think so..." I say sarcastically, and move closer to him, but not too close. I like teasing him. "Your probably wondering why I have a notebook in my hand." I laugh, pretending not to be interested and run a hand down his leg. I can see his eyes go wide, as I run my hand back down it in the opposite direction."I guess." I say, and he laughs nervously. "Playing hard to get, Saunders? Anyway, in here I have the song I wrote about you. I'm going to give it to you, but your only allowed to read it when tour's over." I groan. "No, you can't do that to me." He laughs and hands me a piece of folded paper. "I trust you enough." He says quietly. I put the paper in my pocket and look up at him. I pull his hat off and run my hand through his hair, I keep my hand there and he starts to lean down. My heart starts beating in my ear and his lips are inches away from mine when I hear Calum shout up the stairs"Luke soundcheck." Luke closes his eyes, and swears under his breath. "Go." I say, and reluctantly he stands up. "Don't worry i'm not going anywhere." He laughs again and I smile. He walks across the roof, and slowly makes his way down the stairs.
I lay down on the blanket, play some music out loud off of my ipod and stare out across London as the sun starts to set. I can feel the heavy weight of the paper, burning a whole in my leg...
