The sounds of waves crashing on rocks, of sea gulls calling to each other. The smell of sea salt and citrus Permeated the air. This is was greeted Litha as she swung down from the saddle of her water horse. Giving the silver/white mare a gentle pat she fed Snow a bit of jerky before tying her to the post. Looking around she frowned, it had been years since she'd been to the Summers Bloodline beach house. Last time she was here... it was the smell of watermelon and Jasmine that greeted her. Litha took a moment.. and leaned her forehead against the neck of her horse, breathing in Snows earthy scent. She missed Her friend... Nehemia. But that wasn't why she was here... in Summer.. it had been almost a year since she'd last seen Agis. Almost a year of nothing but letters and fire messages. Her mother, and his still desired a union between the three of them. But... she wasn't sure Agis still desired that. Davin she knew, and smiled softly at the thought. Her mother worried that being High Lord had perhaps shifted his veiw. And it was true she hadn't been in communication with him since the news... but yet... a knot had formed in the pit of her stomach. Litha nodded her head and stepped away from her horse. Nervously Smoothing her thin teal colored riding gown she strode forward.
The beach house was located just outside of sun shimmer cove, on the cliffs above the ocean, far from... well everything. The backside of the house-she knew- overlooked the sea, it's back half made mostly of glass to veiw the waves. The front of the house had a almost circular "driveway" with a large palm tree at its center and stables off to one side tucked into the lush green trees. It's door made from beautiful twisting iron and glass framework. It's Brick a light dusty sandstone. It was beautiful. Just as Nehimia had deigned it when they were young. Biting her lip she knocked. The echo of it seemed to riverbate through her, down through her toes and out. It opened. Revealing.. not a maid or servant...
But the High Lord Himself.-Agis POV-
"Agis..." She breathed... gods she was even more beautiful then last he'd seen her... how different he must look to her... new muscles from the change and working out his frustrations at the gym. His hair silver white now.. stripped of dye.. his skin tanner from the hours spent in the sun. "Litha..." he started, but she cut him off "so it's true... you sent them away... all of them" she said no doubt noting the lack of servants. he scowled, and nodded "I needed to be alone" he turned, leaving the door open and aiming for the huge central sitting room, huge wall to ceiling windows revealed the view of the waves and sandy beach in the distance below the overlook of the house. He heard her follow him. "It's nice to see you" he tried handing her a glass of lemonade... he had attempted to make it himself., it was more sour then sweet but it was cold and refreshing. Frost coated the glass as soon as she held it and she sipped it "thank you... it's good to see you too.... Agis... My Lord—"
"Don't.. don't call me that... please" he said cutting her off. She frowned and set the glass down. "Why not? Your a high lord now! You should be rejoicing!""Rejoicing!? So I should be happy a sister I never knew has passed? I should be happy as an outsider in a court in suppose to run? I should REJOICE in the fact I never knew my father or about any of this!?" He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled slowly. "I'm sorry... I'm just... I am reminded everyday of my own inadequacy..."he shook his head. Promptly adding a healthy amount of vodka to his lemonade.
"I.... I don't understand... I thought you'd be happy... Don't you see? This is a gift... I know it happens under... odd circumstances but yet.. here you are" She said lifting a hand as if to touch him but lowering her hand as if thinking better of it. He notes that and looked away and out at the ocean... "a gift?!" He laughed without humor turning away from the window to look down at her. Had she always been this small? "Look.. YOU were born into this... it was suppose to be Davin okay?""It was never SUPPOSED TO BE ME" he shouted and the lemonade pitcher exploded, the liquid in it having responded to Agis's outburst "I am an outcast here.. and the fucked is thing Litha is I CANT EVEN KILL MYSELF! because if I did there would be no one, NO ONE to take up the bloodline power... I am bound and cursed to a court that hates me..." he cursed and throw his glass, watching it shatter against the useless fire place. Useless... because it was always so fucking hot here...
Litha was braced, one hand out as if ready to summon frost to cool his temper when he just shook his head "you should go... just... go.. this is exactly why I needed to be alone."
"Agis..." she started and he cut her off with a shake of his head..
"Just go... Litha... please... you don't want me" he said shaking his head
Fine... you want me to go? I'll go... you can wallow in your victim bullshit all you want, but fact is you received a gift people have killed for..."she shook her head and headed for the door "consider the engagement off... summer can't marry winter anyway right?" She paused hand on the door handle glaring at her fingers, frost coating the door handle as she struggled to control her emotions.
"Litha... I..."
"Just forget it Agis... I shouldn't have come" she said—half whispered as she left, slamming the door behind her... something shattered in his chest... as he fell to his knees the same moment the door slammed shut. Thunder boomed overhead as his voice cracked "I'm sorry..." he choked out, his hands fisting in his hair as rain began pelting the windows behind him... hail... how suiting...
