Stacey’s POV:
“No...” She’s on drugs... Darrin is a druggy!
“Hey Stace, you okay? You look sick.” The girl looks at her a little grossed out.
“Darrin...” I drop to my knees and cry. My best friend, no!
“Stacey?”
“Leave me alone!” I cry hard and she leaves, some friend.
*Flash back*
“I have to go to a foster home Stacey.”
“Why? Stay here with me; my parents will take you in...”
“I wish I could,” Darrin starts to tear; “You have to promise you’ll never forget me! No matter what happens to me, promise you’ll always be my valentine.” I cry.
“I promise!” I run and hug Darrin and she hugs me back.
*End flash back*
“I can’t forget. She’s still Darrin, my Darrin.” I get up and I fix my hair and make up. I head to my classes, looking out to see if I can find Darrin anywhere, but I don’t.
“Hey babe, where you been?” Nick stomps over, putting his arm around me, claiming me.
“I was in the bathroom and I had class.”
“I didn’t get my vitamin water!” I see Darrin walk by, and I look at her.
“Why didn’t you buy it?”
“That’s your job.” I look at him, not believing he just said that.
“What?” I gape at him, and Darrin just watches, listening.
“You buy my vitamin water, woman.”
“Maybe if you got a job, you could afford to get your broke ass a fuckin’ three dollar bottle of flavored water.” Darrin smirks leaning against the wall. I just smile at her.
“What did you say bitch?” He steps towards her like he’s going to hit her.
“Are you deaf, or just too stupid to comprehend that you’re lazy and broke?” She smiles.
“I’m going to give you two seconds to take that back or else-“
“Or else what? You’ll go tell mommy that you got bullied by a girl? Are you four?” A crowd forms and I seriously think he’s going to hit her. People have even brought out cameras.
“You fucking trick!” He stomps over and throws a punch which she quickly dodges and sucker punches him in the face, causing him to fall backwards. Then Darrin walks over to him and looks down on him.
“First of all, it’s the gentleman’s job to buy for the lady. Obviously, your daddy never taught you how to be a man. Second of all, you don’t hit woman that makes you look like you have no balls. Third, you came at me like you had a chance. I’m half a foot shorter and seventy-five percent smaller than you. I move faster, dumbass. You best treat Stacey with some respect. Next time, you’ll lose your cock.” She grabs her bag and walks over to me, looking me in the eye. “Don’t let him treat you like shit. This is a relationship, not a pissing contest.”
“Y-yea.” She walks off, and my ‘friends’ gather.
“Holy shit!”
“Did you see that, she just knocked Nick on his ass, wow!”
“Yea, I saw I was right here...”
“I’m going to kill that bitch!” Nick stumbles up.
“Leave it be Nick.” He looks at me like I’m crazy, and honestly in one day: I think I might be going crazy.
I walk off to go home, trying to process what just happened. Darrin was just yelling at me an hour or two ago, now she was defending me? I want to say it’s the drugs, but she was completely calm headed and looked at me like she knew what was happening. She was wearing the necklace too. She kept it.
“Where’s my car?” I see broken glass where my car should be, “Are you fucking kidding me!?” I sit down on the steps, looking for my phone. “I left me phone in my car!” I cry; can this day get any worse!?
I sit there for a few minutes, isn’t this the moment where my boyfriend is supposed to show up in his car to save me? And, as if a sign from God someone pulls up. But, it’s a motorcycle. A Ducati, but has Valentine painted on it instead.
“A motorcycle, really?” The person removes their helmet and sure enough, it’s Darrin.
“Can you expect anything less?”
“Not really, you never seemed like a sedan person.”
“So true,” She smiles, “how’s ball face’s jaw?”
“Nick’s jaw is fine. He’s got a death warrant for you now.”
“Not the first time. You need a ride?”
“No I was just going to stay her.”
“What, all night?” She gasps, sarcastically.
“All night, like a boss, just sitting here. Not moving, ever.”
“Sounds good, but, its gunna rain.” She puts the kickstand down, turning the bike off and get’s up, “C’mon I’ll give ya lift.” She holds out her hand.
“Really?”
“Yea,” She can tell I’m hesitant and she smiles, “Don’t worry I don’t bite too hard.”
I take her hand and she helps me up.
Darrin’s POV:
“Here kiddo.” I offer her my jacket.
“Really?” She blushes slightly. Oh my god, so adorable.
“Yea, why not?” I smile.
“Thank you.” She puts it on.
“Hey, I’m um sorry about earlier today, Stacey...” I look away, “I didn’t mean to yell at you, I blamed my faults on you even though it has nothing to do with you.”
“It’s okay,” She hugs me and her friends come looking for her, “we just have a lot to catch up on.”
“Are you sure your friends are cool with that?” I look at her friends, and she turns around.
“I don’t care, let’s go.” She walks over to my bike and I get on it. She sits behind me and places her hand on my waist.
“I don’t do speed limit dear.” I wrap her arms around my whole waist. And I pull so aviator goggles out and put them on. “Hold on, kiddo.” I speed off blowing her friends a kiss, and Stacey screams and laughs.
We drive for awhile. I take a peak back, smiling seeing that she has her head on my shoulder. She’s smiling, cool she’s not scared to death!
“How fast are we going?” She smiles and yells over the wind.
“Eighty-eight miles per hour fast enough to see some serious shit!”
“First of all this isn’t the eighties, were not in a DeLorean,” She smiles and I’m shocked, “And, were not powered by plutonium.”
“You know that movie?”
“I’m a cheerleader, not a caveman!” We laugh, “Where are we going?”
“I thought this was the way to your house?”
“Nope, you missed a left.”
“Goddammit, how far back?”
“A mile or so.” I groan.
“Hold on.”
