Stacey’s POV:

She sounded happy that I called; she doesn’t have any friends besides me. Maybe I could introduce her to some people who play instruments, or maybe the music club? I walk down stairs to eat dinner.

“Hey mom, dinner smells really good.” I sit in my seat.

“Thank you dear, I worked hard on it.”

“She means she spent 20 minutes on it.” Daniel smiles and my mom smacks him with a spoon.

“I’m sure it still tastes good. When will dad be home?”

“He should be home any minute.” The door opens.

“Honey, kids I’m home.”

“Speak of the devil.” This time I hit Daniel, “Why do people keep hitting me?”

“You make it too easy.”

“So I found this video of Darrin singing on YouTube.”

“Was it the Juvenile Justice one?”

“No she has a whole channel. Find it, its called Valentine and the Voice. Look.” He pulls out his tablet and scrolls through her channel.

“Fifty-six videos?”

“Yea she has four thousand some-odd watchers. Most of them watch her cover of ‘From the Inside’ by Linkin Park. She can sing!”

“No tablets at the table Daniel.” My dad takes it away and looks at it, “Darrin Eurie?”

“Yea, she’s back in town, she goes to the school.”

“I heard she’s trouble now.”

“No.” I look at him.

“Darrin gave Stacey a ride home today.”

“Where’s your car?”

“I was stolen, dad, from the school.”

“What?” He’s pissed now...

“Why didn’t that boy Nick bring you home?”

“He was treating me badly so Darrin beat him up, and she gave me a ride home.”

“She’s still bad news.” He sits.

“And, she’s still been my best friend for years.” I look at him, he stares back.

“Okay, let’s just eat dinner.”

We eat dinner in silence, and then I go to my room again looking at Darrin’s videos. She sings magically, I never even knew. I didn’t notice my brother came in.

“She can really sing huh?” I jump slightly.

“Yea, she’s really something else.” I stare at my screen, and Daniel looks at me.

“You missed her didn’t you?”

“You’ve no idea.” He smirks.

“I think I do.” I look confused.

“What does that mean?”

“Nothing, good night.” Idiot.

I watch a video of her covering ‘Somewhere I Belong’ by Linkin Park, she really likes this band. I can’t think straight, I decide to go to sleep, a deep, long, peaceful sleep.

*Dream*

“Hey, sleepy head.” I see Darrin lying next to me, smiling.

“Hey there scruffy.” I smile.
