Stacey’s POV:
As we walk through the halls I hold Darrin’s hand. People keep staring at us when we go to lunch. I help Darrin sit and get her food; we walk to my friends to sit down.
“Honey, are you sure it’s okay for me to sit with them?”
“Of course, if they’re my friends, then they’ll accept us. If not we can leave.” Darrin nods and we sit down. And my friends stare at us.
“Hey, Darrin how are you feeling?” Darrin looks up at Nami a little shocked.
“I’m okay, thank you. Thank you for trying to keep Stacey safe.”
“It’s no problem,” She smiles and nudges me, “kid’s reckless enough on her own!” We laugh.
“Thanks.”
I introduce Darrin to my friends; Megan, Lauren, and Rory. They talk about stuff I never thought my friends did. Megan is into acting, Lauren reads Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe, and Rory play field hockey. I ended up learning stuff about Darrin too. She loves to do ballet, she writes short stories on her free time, and she did kick boxing and played basket ball, where she formed a team for something called the Foster Home Sports Club. After school, we head to my car since Darrin can’t drive her motorcycle I have my brother and his friend put it in the back of my truck.
“Damn, this thing is heavy.” Danny is sweating.
“Try having to carry it up three flights of stairs.” Darrin smiles.
“It’s cool they gave everyone a minimum day, I didn’t think I could take that econ test.”
“There was an econ test?” Darrin looks at me.
“It’s a good thing we got the day off huh?” I say teasingly.
“Hey!” I go to Darrin and kiss her.
“Silly girl.” My brother coughs very loudly.
“Oh, mom wanted to know if Darrin wanted to come over for dinner.”
“I’d love to. Sounds like fun. Stace will you help me get changed though? I’m in so much pain.”
“Sure, let’s go. Tell mom we’ll be over around five.”
“Okay, have fun.” I hit my brother.
“Come on baby.” I look at Darrin and smile.
“Yea,” She leans down and kisses me softly and I can feel the blush come across my cheeks, “Shall we go?” I look away and she laughs.
“You’re so beautiful.” I stare at her and I blush deeply. As I go to open the door accidently hit Darrin’s stomach and she cringes in pain.
“Oh my God, Darrin I’m so sorry baby.”
“Its okay love, I’m okay.” She gets in the truck and I go to the driver’s side, climb in and drive to Darrin’s house.
The drive is quiet and I don’t like it. Darrin doesn’t either, I can tell at how she bites the inside of her lip. The silence is giving me too much to think about and it’s on a subject that’s happening so soon, my dad. I know he doesn’t like Darrin, and he’s not particularly fond of gays either. I can’t live in my house if my dad hates me. And I won’t want to if he hates Darrin. She’s apart of me and my life. I wonder if Darrin would let me move in, no! I can’t ask that of Darrin, we just only started dating. I know I’ll want to move in some day but, I’m just so scared. I don’t concentrate, I don’t even notice when I swerve a little.
“Stacey,” Darrin’s voice snaps me out of my trance, “I don’t think I can do this, the dinner I mean.”
“Why not,” I look at Darrin.
