As I stepped out of the changing rooms, I stretched my arms, blocking out some of the sunlight as I did so. With the summer vacation having begun, and me and Miyu having wanted to go out and do something together over the break, I suggested maybe we go to the beach or something. I partially came up with the idea because I figured with her enjoying diving, spending a day in the water with her would be fun. After hearing my idea, Miyu thought it was a nice idea, and that she hadn't really gone to the beach much, typically going to private pools for her diving lessons, and so we ended up deciding to go for it, and go together a week into the break.
I haven't really gone swimming myself in a year or two, mostly just due to never being in the mood to go, but it's really nice out today, and I'm sure I'm gonna have a good time with Miyu beside me. After standing by the changing rooms for a minute, Miyu came out herself, a small blush on her face as she stepped out in her swimsuit.
"What do you think?" Miyu said, as she looked away
"You look great, Miyu." I said
Miyu smiled and said "Thanks Y/n."
"Hey Miyu? You've been kinda looking away from me since you came out, is something up?" I asked
Miyu began to blush a bit brighter as she said in an embarrassed tone "It's just that this is the first time I've seen a man shirtless before..."
Oh right, I sometimes forget that Miyu has been pretty sheltered, so she might be a bit more sensitive to this stuff. "Right. Sorry, if I had known that it'd make you uncomfortable or whatever, I would've brought an undershirt to wear or something." I said
"No, it's fine Y/n, I just was a little bit embarrassed." Miyu said, turning her head back to face me
"You sure?" I said, my main priority in all of this being her
"Yeah, now how about we go and enjoy ourselves?" Miyu said, taking a hold of my hand
"Sounds like a plan." I said, smiling at her as we ran towards the water.
As I felt my leg become submerged, I felt the familiar way it always feels ice cold when I enter, and as I stopped, and Miyu looked out at the ocean around us, she said "The ocean looks so pretty."
"Doesn't it? I haven't really gone in a while, but I always enjoy the view of the ocean." I said
After a moment of silence between us I said "I uh, have no clue what couples do at the beach."
Miyu giggled and said "Well in that case, how about you come catch me."
She then splashed me and began to ran off into deeper water, with me on her heels and a smile on my face.

After we spent a while swimming and goofing off with each other in the water, we get out to dry off for a bit on our towels and under the shade of an umbrella. Today has been just as much fun as I expected, and it's great to do something as boyfriend and girlfriend for the first time, since up until now, when we meet up we would do the things we were doing before we ended up dating. Well I guess we could've gone swimming like this even if we weren't dating, but I feel like that's the kind of thing that'd be awkward just the two of us.
"I've been having so much fun Y/n." Miyu said, smiling
"I'm really glad to hear that." I said "I've been having a good time too, although that's to be expected when I'm spending the day with someone I love."
Miyu blushed slightly again and said "That certainly does make this even better."
I looked at the horizon and saw that it looked like the sun was starting to get kind of low down in the sky. I reached into the bag we brought for our stuff and pulled out my phone to check the time. "It's later than I thought." I said to myself, I guess the whole thing about time going by quicker when you're having fun is true.
"Really? Then maybe we should get ready to leave once we dry off." Miyu said
"Works for me." I said. Although I do admit I'd love to spend even more time with Miyu, and us leaving means that we're closer to heading our separate ways.

Eventually we changed out of our swimsuits and boarded the train home. As we sat beside each other, the sun setting outside, the orange sky around us. Miyu let out a contented sigh and rested her head on my shoulder.
"You tired?" I asked
"A bit, but it's also nice to lean against you as we head home" Miyu said
"You know Miyu, every time I see you, you seem all the more gorgeous." I said, smiling as I rested my head against hers
"My grandmother actually told me the other day that I seemed more beautiful recently." Miyu said before her smile grew a bit "I wonder if it's because I'm in love."
"I can believe it." I said
We leaned against each other like that until eventually the train reached our stop, and we got off. From there I walked Miyu to her home, and as we reached the front gates to her family's home, I said "I guess we're splitting up here for today. I had a ton of fun, and here's hoping that we can do more together soon."
Miyu started to blush slightly as she leaned forward, and brought her lips to mine. Her lips felt so soft against mine, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as we kissed. When our lips parted, she smiled at me, and said "I'll talk to you later Y/n, I love you."
"Love you too Miyu, and I'll see you then." I responded
After that, she headed inside, and I turned to head home myself, admittedly still a little bit giddy about our first kiss.

As I got home, I headed inside and saw that much to my surprise, my dad was home. I figured it was about time for him to have another one of business trips, and so I had expected him to be gone by the time I got home.
He looked up at me and said "Looks like somebody is in a good mood. I take it your date went well?"
"Uh yeah, it did. Although I was expecting you to be going on a trip and that's why you left in such a rush this morning." I said
"Actually, I was given a promotion at my work, and my new position means I won't be going on anywhere near as many trips." Dad said
"Congrats I guess." I said
"But because I'm going to be home from now on, and your new relationship, there are some things that are gonna need to change. And because of that, we need to talk." Dad said
"About what?"
"Your mother's passing."
