After a closet and a bedroom, I finally found the bathroom. After leaving to go find Jasper I felt that something was wrong. I found Jasper, but a surprise with it. Him and Regan were kissing.
"Jasper." I said in a faint voice. Jasper looked over at me, releasing from Regan's grasp. He opened his mouth but I ran off before he could speak. I ran all the way back to my house and to the tree. Not even bothering to catch my breath I retrieved the razor and began cutting. 10, 11, 12, I counted more and more until I heard a voice.
"Harmony! Stop!" As soon as the words left his mouth I knew it was Jasper.
"Why should I ?!" I yelled tears dripping from my eyes.
"I swear, she kissed me!" He said trying to get my attention.
"I don't care, but you didn't pull away, you pulled away when I got there, not when it happened." I said placing another slice upon my wrist. Jasper ran over and snatched the razor from my hands.
"Give it back!" I yelled at him.
"No, I'm protecting you remember, Regan is nothing to me." He said calming down his voice.
"You love her! I'm just something in your life to keep you from boredom!" I could feel my face getting pale as the emotion drained from my cheeks. I looked down and watched the blood drip onto the freshly grown grass.
"I don't love her!..." he leaned in and placed a kiss upon my well dried lips, "...I love you." His voice got softer as the words fumbled out of his mouth. I almost fainted as he leaned in for another. This time I was prepared and pressed my lips against his.
"I love you too, Jasper." I said with a smile. Jasper sat next to me and put his arm around me. I slowly fell asleep, as I was exhausted from the drama. I woke up in my bed with Jasper laying next to me. I watched him as he slept, for he was a cute sleeper. When he woke he was very sweet.
"Hey, sleepy head." He said, a smile sprung across my face.
"Did you take me up here?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, I hope you don't mind that I slept over." He replied.
"Not at all." I started smiling bigger then before, "What time is it?" I then asked.
"One o'clock." He responded puzzled.
"My dads gonna be here in half an hour." I said freaking out. After saying goodbye and giving me a kiss, Jasper walked out the door. I was startled when he came back in looking for his jacket in my room. As soon as he turned into my room my dad walked in.
"This house is a mess! You didn't do anything when I was gone!" He yelled. My dad then held out his arm, in it was a leather type rope.
"Good thing I bought this. They use it to whip horses, which clearly you are." He said with a grim smile upon his wrinkled face. He began to bring his arm back, and as he drew it forward I closed my eyes. I waited for a minute but nothing seemed to happen. Then I felt something fall strait in front of me. I heard the swish of the whip as it made one last hit. I slowly opened my eyes but just a crack as my dad left. On the floor in front of me lay Jasper. Jasper took the beating to protect me from it. He took two lashes to his face and three to his arms. I helped him up and brought him outside as I dialed 9-1-1. After only minutes the ambulance arrived along with the police.
Jasper had been hit so hard that blood was dripping from every lash. The police ran inside and removed my dad from the premises. I rode with Jasper all the way to the hospital to keep him company. He needed 96 stitches in all. He had to stay in the hospital all night and I stayed with him. I was scared to go back home because of my dad but I had to. When I got to the front of my house there was a note. It read:
Dear Harmony Jones,
This is the police department and we would like to share with you some news. Your father is to be imprisoned until his court date. We would like you to testify against him but we understand if it is too much. If you decide you would like to, call us at +1(571)512-6321 and we will gladly schedule that you will be coming. The court date is 4-16-14. If we win the case you will get legal guardianship of yourself, but will have a member of the police department check on you every so often. We hope we will see you there.
Sincerely,
P.D.
I didn't know what to do. Should I testify against my dad or not? This was all so confusing to me. I know he deserves to go to prison, but he's my dad. Then I thought about what he had done to Jasper and me. I knew exactly what I had to do.
After eating I called the police department. I told them that I would testify against my dad. They told me they would send a lawyer to my house tomorrow. I accepted knowing that Jasper was going to be at my house during it. He was coming to visit me on his first day out of the hospital.
I had prepared for it. I wore shorts to show the lawyer my bruises that my dad had put there. I was nervous and didn't sleep at all so it was a long night. Then, as soon as I dosed off there was a knock at the
door. Slowly I got out of bed to answer it.
