Finally it was trial time. I was sitting in the court room, on my left was my lawyer and on my right was Jasper. I was shaking waiting for the police to lead my dad into the room, but Jasper kept me steady. All of a sudden there was complete silence. There wasn't a single breath you could here.
Then the doors swung open and everyone looked back. It was my father in an orange jumpsuit being guided by two cops. My legs almost gave out as I realized what I was doing.
"I don't think I can do this.." I whispered to Jasper as I steadied myself on his shoulder.
"Yes you can, Harmony I know you can do this. You'll have a better life without having bruises all over your body. Trust me." He replied although it barely did anything to help me calm down. I looked across the room and my dad was already staring at me with and unforgiving, hateful look. I was a stone standing there in the light of day, no movement fell upon my body, my ears went numb, then it all came back.
The judge walked up to her podium and began to speak," Ok so the case today is very detailed. Harmony Jones and Jasper Folsum, you are claiming that Mark Jones is an, abusive father and will abuse anyone in his way to harm Ms. Jones." As she spoke her words tumbled out as in a slur. I shook my head to show she was correct, the nod was enough to confirm.
"Well, this sounds like a difficult case indeed. Ms. Jones I'd like to question you first." She said, my legs went numb. She began to ask questions and I held Jaspers hand the entire time.
She started the last question, "So, from what you told me I'm already believing he's guilty, but this question is for Jasper. I know she's been struggling with this and so do you I believe, so on a scale of 1-10 how much pain do you think this put her through." Jasper looks at me and I nod him approval.
"About 81/2 or 9." He said slightly squeezing my hand afterwards. I knew he would say that, because it's true.
The judge got the evidence and after seeing the picture of my bruised legs she raged.
"So Mark, this is what a child's worth to you! She's worth beating and abusing just so you can get your anger out!! Well I'm gonna have to say guilty." She yelled and began to calm down as she slammed down her gavel. I felt free at that moment, I was smiling.
Then I had this gut feeling, something's gonna go wrong. I told Jasper we should leave but I was too late. By the time we got to the doors my dad was already running past the police and toward me and Jasper, he was holding something sharp, it was...tweezers. I began to panic as he came close to Jasper. I stepped in front of him with my hand out. Then there was this excruciating pain in my palm. I looked up and the tweezers had gone through my hand. I was in shock when Jasper went over and knocked my dad out in one hit after removing the tweezers.
Jasper lifted me onto his shoulder and carried me to the hospital, which was right around the corner. As soon as we got in they took me to the closest room, and began putting antibiotics on it which burned....BAD! Then they stitched it up and wrapped gauze around my hand. As soon as I got out of the room, Jasper walked over to me with a weird look on his face.
"Harmony, when they were stitching up your hand they saw your cuts!" He explained I panicked and told him to get me out of here. Although right before we started walking, the doctor came over and lifted my sleeves. Oh no I was dead.
I was a bit confused when he started talking," These scars may look old but they are still infected," he said handing me a bottle of some type of liquid I couldn't pronounce," take some of this Isocondiaclar and it should heal the scabs." He explained walking off. The sweat running down my forehead had dried moments earlier and me and Jasper left the hospital.
