CHAPTER 3

I smiled quite relaxed and wondered why I hadn't come up with that idea before. Faking another date so I wouldn't have to go. And why should my friends not buy it. I was always very secretive about my crushes. They would never be expecting it, and I believed I was capable of fooling them.

When everyone woke and had joined up in the dining room again for dinner, I learnt that Kim and Kady both had dates with Leon's friends Duncan and Kyle. But the latest gossip of the evening was the announcement of the official girlfriend of Jason. Cassie was delighted and occasionally pissed off. Why? As happy as she was with Jason, she had developed some anti-fans. They worshiped Jason but weren't fond of her.

"Awe Em," said Kim sympathetically, "Don't worry I'm sure we could get a guy for you too."

"Oh that's right!" Said Kady innocently, as she clearly had forgotten my own situation, "We all have dates this time."

"Thanks Kim. But even without your help I could find a guy." Kim raised her brow and I knew that she didn't believe a word I said.

"Whatever! I was just trying to help you out, but since you believe you can get a guy. I'd like to see you try."

"I don't have to prove anything. But, as a matter of fact I already have one!"

"What?!" Cassie said.

"Yea, he decorated the garden and wants me to see it with him." I said.

"So you are going to the garden alone with him." Cassie said, frowning.

"There is nothing wrong with that."

"Scandalous! I never knew you were the type," said Kim working on my nerve.

"Not everyone uses the garden the way you do." I said seemingly joking, but Kim took the hint.

"Em, who is this guy?" Cassie asked.

"He didn't tell me, but I know he is in most my classes, I just can't remember his name."

"Wait! How long have you known his guy for?"

"Since this morning," I said slightly dreamy.

"And this doesn't raise an alarm!"

"Relax Cassie, I know he's not a bad guy and please don't judge him, since you haven't even meet him yet. Besides it's not like any of you knew your dates for very long either. Trust me a little, he's a decent guy!"

Cassie gave in to what I was saying. She smiled, but still had a worried look on her face.

The next day everyone was busy arranging their prom dresses. Cassie insisted that I prepared mine also in case I changed my mind. I knew that wasn't happening but I still complied. Cassie cousin who was a freshman and a stylist in training came to our dorms to help Cassie with her hair and makeup. The young girl did wonders with Cassie and by the time she was finished Cassie looked like a goddess.

"Whoa, Britney you definitely have magically fingers." I complimented her.

"What can I say it runs in the family!" Britney said.

"I think you may have outdone your mom, but don't tell her I said that." Cassie said.

"I won't. Come sit Emily!"

"No it's fine. You know I'm not into that. Beside I am not even going to prom."

"Oh! I hear you got a date, so any how you take it you got to look good."

I smiled; trying to carry out my bluff I sat allowing her to work her magic. After a half an hour of having her touch my hair and face she was finally finished.
