    Case File No. 103
Location: Port Detective Agency, Storage Closet Number 4
    Time: 4:35 PM, Pasific Time

The group, Kalm, Devlin, Chief, and Eli, all split up to find the tools to give to Alia so that she could fix the machine that was broken. There were 4 storage closets in total in the division, and all of them had at least one of the tools that Alia needed. So, they all took a closet and started to search around for the tools. Thanks to the Chief giving them the keys, they were able to search through the storage closets freely.

Kalm searched through the closet he was assigned to, trying his best to find the tools the fastest. He was assigned to a few different tools just like the rest of the group. As he searched through the closet, he found a bunch of different stuff that wasn't even close to the case, but interested him, nonetheless. An open glove box, ripped up masks that still needed to be fixed, a gun holster, cut up ropes, and a few other things that were odd to Kalm. However, he kept looking for the tools that he needed to find.

Kalm threw all the items behind him as he dug through the stuff to get to the tools that were at the bottom of the pile. He smiled as he finally reached the last tool that he needed to find. He put it in a small bag that everyone had been given so that they didn't need to carry so much stuff. When he turned around, he noticed that all the stuff he had thrown behind him was all in one big mess. He put the bag down and began to clean up the mess he made.

The ropes were all ripped up, almost like they've been used. The masks seemed to have just been broken just a bit ago. The gloves were all messy like the person trying to use them was in a rush. Now that Kalm pulled on it, the gloves were stuck and couldn't get out of the box. There was a small purple box cutter which was dented somehow. Finally, the gun holster was empty, it was odd to see since there would always be a gun in it.

Kalm lifted the gun holster and examined it. Furrowing his brows, he couldn't help but feel like it felt familiar. It was a police gun holster. One that was just the right size to fit the gun that Alia had found on the rooftop. Kalm's eyes widened, he knew who this belonged to.

Putting pieces together, the bullet wounds, the gun, the box cutter, the pearls, the ring, blood, night gown, absences, and everything that they were missing, everything was put together. It was like a puzzle finally being solved by that one piece. However, the piece to make the puzzle a picture horrified Kalm, who realized who the person behind the kill was. Kalm stared longer and harder at the gun holster. He wished that what he thought was wrong, but there was no other answer to who is the killer.

"I know the murderer..." Kalm whispered to himself.

    "Do you now?"

Kalm stayed where he was when he heard a gun being lifted and aimed at him. He didn't make a sound. He didn't move at all. It was almost like he was a statue in place. But he showed no panic, in fact, it looked like he was completely calm about what was happening to him. It was almost concerning for the killer behind him.

"I'm surprised on how quickly you found me out," the killer behind Kalm said. "I honestly thought it would take you longer, and I would have more time to stall."

"Why would you do this?" Kalm questioned, not daring to turn around. "I'm sure you would love to explain."

The killer seemed to shrug. "Yeah, you're right, but that's to be expected from you, the king of researching and finding out about someone's background. Veronica is rich, as you know, and the price on her head is high. Do you want to know why that is?"

Kalm tensed when he heard the footsteps of the killer walk closer to him. "Because of her family?"

"Wrong. It's because of all the terrible things she's done to the people around her. You know, her own partner put that bounty on her head. They wanted her gone. They didn't care who did it, if you signed up and did the job the pay will be good. I didn't like Veronica, personally, she was very stuck up and selfish for her own wants. She wanted a whole cult to be centered around her, did you know that?"

    "No. I didn't."

The killer chuckled, their voice was tired sounding. "If she were alive or in public any longer everything would've gone into chaos."

"Is that why did what you did, Fujihara?" Kalm asked as he turned his head to look at the black-haired detective.

Devlin smiled as he still had the gun pointed at Kalm's head. His smile made his eyes squint even more, making him look more like a melanistic fox than anything. His smile would almost be evil if the eyes were shown more. The gun he had in his hand still had the plastic on the handle. Devlin's fingerprints won't be picked up on the gun because of the plastic.

"I want a world of peace," Devlin said. "I hate it when people think that they can be the ruler of it. That's why I killed Veronica. I had to kill her."

"It's hard to believe that you 'had' to kill her," Kalm whispered but Devlin still heard. "You kidnapped her first, didn't you?"

    "You're correct."

Kalm hummed, "But she had a box cutter with her. She took it when you kidnapped her at night due to her having it under her pillow. You didn't notice it since she hid it when you were taking her away. When you reached the building, you, if I had to guess, were going to sell her off on the black market. However, plans folded when you realized that she had escaped the ropes you put her in. In a rush you used your police gun since it was the closest to you and shot her dead before she could get to the edge of the building's rooftop."

Devlin was left quiet for a second longer before he gave Kalm a sideways smirk. "You scare me with how good your deduction skills are. I don't think that Eli nor Alia would've figured that all out. Tell me, how'd you do it?"

"It's simple; I'm a detective for a reason, Devlin," Kalm stated. "I choose this job for a reason. However, my 'deduction skills', as you call them, are nothing compared to the others' talent. Especially your cunningness. I'm just surprised that you even got the Chief into your shenanigans. Did you threaten him into doing it?"

"He followed me on his own," Devlin shrugged. "I mean, I wasn't going to complain, having someone as important level as Chief is a guaranteed success in my book. Besides, it's thanks to him I got away with so much."

Kalm could only give a sour smile as he looked down at the floor below him. "Success or not, one day you will be found out. And I will be waiting for you to die so that I can give you more of my thoughts. However, I know your time is running short and Chief will be done with his part of the plan with killing Alia and Eli. I feel bad for them, you know? They did just started to get along."

Devlin shifted the gun closer to Kalm's head. "You keep surprising me with your skills, Detective Kalm Clover. I'll see you at the other side."

Kalm gave a bitter, airy chuckle. "If there is another side."

Devlin pulled the trigger. The silencer on the Glock did its job and kept the loud bang silent to anyone around the closet, if there were others around the closet. Blood splattered on the walls, shelves, and on Devlin's face. Usually, a killer would've been fine with killing their victim, but Devlin did not feel that. He stared at Kalm's dead body as it spilled with blood, staining the ground below.

"And you died with a smile," Devlin pointed out to himself as he wiped the blood off his cheek with his thumb. "How unfortunate for you, I really thought we could've been friends. However, you are just too good of a detective than most of us are. Goodbye, Kalm Clover."
