The group was now in the ship's briefing room as the president nodded gratefully "We are indebted to you and the Federation, Admiral. But I'm afraid we need your government's help."
Picard turned his attention as the president continued "We have lost almost half of planets that are part of the Polaris government. All taken by Tachyon. The other half are barely resisting the invaders. So Polaris desperately needs your help."
Picard thought for a few minutes before speaking "I have read the report on the Great War. Is there no way to reason with this Tachyon emperor?"
The Vulcan ambassador denied "I'm afraid not Admiral Picard. This one was willing to kill the last two Lombax as well and conquer Polaris and Solana as well."
The bald man looked out the window "Mr. President. I have sent your request to the High Council and received their reply a while ago, they are preparing a fleet to come to your aid. Long story short, I will be leading that fleet."
"And the USS Verity?" Ratchet looked intrigued as the older one looked at him "You will assume command as Captain, Ratchet."
"S-Sir... With all due respect, I must decline that. I just graduated weeks ago from Starfleet Academy. To give me command of a starship just like that and being a recent graduate, would be... Illogical." Ratchet hesitated, part of him was happy to be quickly given command of his first ship at the same time no, one reason being that he was a recent graduate of the Academy and obviously of Starfleet's newest ship the USS Verity very quickly is not good.
Picard laughed "I'm not blind Ratchet. Do you think I didn't notice how you went from deck to deck, seeing if you could help or listen to the crew or any crewmember on board if they were having problems. A captain not only commands... He also looks out for his crew."

Picard smiled "I don't think so, while he was in command you gave him a couple of tips and ideas to improve for example the ship's sensors and protocols. A first officer watches over his captain as well and you watched over Ratchet."
The Lombax nodded "I won't take no for an answer.... Number One." The Andorian stiffened "It will be an honor, Admiral.... Captain."
Ratchet chuckled as Spock nodded "Congratulations Commander Rhys."
The Andorian thanked "Thank you Ambassador Spock."
The president looked at Qwark "Contact the PDF, reorganize our forces with the Starfleet."
The green-suited hero gave a pathetic military salute "Yes sir."

"Admiral, the fleet just arrived in Kortog." They all stood up as they made their way to the bridge where the president looked in amazement at the screen "I've never seen such a variety of ships before."
