"I'm sorry my mom was pestering you earlier," I apologised, the bright sun blinding me.
"She's just excited we're dating. It's cute, don't worry." Jungwoo assured, gripping onto my hand as we laid on the warm lush grass together. We were the only ones in the entire field, and it was quite romantic. "Your dad seems quite tense though."
"Ugh, he's ridiculous," I sighed jokingly, seriously contemplating how my parents ever got together. "How are my parents married? They're so different. My mom encourages me to date whilst my dad reprimands me."
For a moment there was silence, the feeling and knowing of Jungwoo's hand in mine being enough to satisfy me. "Would you ever like to get married Duckling?" I felt Jungwoo turn around to face me, so I did the same.
"Honestly, if it was any other guy, at this stage I would've said no. But because it's you, if you want to, I'd consider it." I answered truthfully, "But we've only been dating for 2 months now. We'll see how we feel later on, right?"
"Right." Jungwoo nodded, before speaking again. "But to be honest, I want to get married. It shows I'm committed, and I want you to trust me."
"Jungwoo, I already trust you. I know you wouldn't hurt me. I hope you can trust me too. So don't feel pressured to get married, alright? We can just be two people who love each other."
"Love?" Jungwoo repeated, and just as it dawned on me what I had said, my heart began beating faster.
I paused for a moment, our eyes locking as a small smile formed on Jungwoo's face. I too smiled, the twinkle in the brown swirls of his eyes causing my heart to flutter.
"I'm really lucky, aren't I?" I asked, grinning.
"No, I think I'm the lucky one. My love."
And just like that, the beginning of my fairytale-like youth had ended.
Because we died.
