Good afternoon, let the sun and radiation set ablaze.
Times have changed, and this has made me amazed!
The big gray cloud starts stumbling in front of the sun.
"Ugh, ya filthy scum!", the sun said to the cloud.
The cloud was now not quite happy.
In fact, he got snappy.
And down came the harsh rain.
Turning the old roads very plain.
Crows cawed.
Desperate era's call for desperate creativities.
The land became very flawed.
Every bright colors the sun gave, became bland.
The gray shades made the hills look like a wasteland.
And I stood under a tree. As I stood,
I scattered in thought, traveling back to my childhood.
Some mutated animals were digging for bugs.
Two mutated rabbits taking cover from the rain by giving each other hugs.
Hmh. Never mind, they're tearing their floppy ears off.
The wind started to rush in.
Making the grass brush back.
I ran into this little old shack.
Cans of food, bottles of water.
It's...my home.
I grabbed my bag, setting it down, then opened up a bottle of water.
I guzzled the water, refreshing my mind, my body.
Right now, I just need a hobby.
A hobby... so I can... so I can distract myself! From this new terrible time.
Things were only beautiful for a few minutes.
Though beauty--had its limits.
You'd think eventually everything would go back to normal.
But no, seems like nothing would ever be formal.
It's the end of the world.
As you couldn't already tell.
Everyone that's left has started to rebel.
I don't trust people anymore.
I stay alone, whilst I go crazy.
Everything now just seems shady.
I opened a can that had been on a table in the shack.
Can O' Peaches!
I ate some peaches while walking out to the pier.
I admired the vast ocean.
But it didn't seem right.
The sun was now completely out of sight.
It wasn't night yet, but fog rolled in, making everything dark.
I then heard howling, but this wasn't normal howling.
I dropped my can of peaches, which was now empty.
I managed my way back to the shack, swiftly but gently shutting the door.
The shack looked pretty beat up.
The odd howling started again, this time it was closer.
I glanced at the wall, then at this old poster.
"Bravery and Courage will Bring Success."
Psh, that's a load of bull.
And it's the classic kitten holding onto a branch, I bet it fell.
I stopped my breathing once I heard something outside of the shack.
Oh geez, I was about to be a mutated creature's snack.
Ever since the explosions, all life turned into monsters.
I heard it sniffing around.
My optimism shut down.
I'm a goner.
I whipped my head to the door, as I saw it moving.
The creature laughed like a hyena, pft he must be grooving.
I grabbed a knife from my bag.
Suddenly the entire front of the shack crashed apart, revealing the creature.
It had so many distinct features.
I stood up, with my knife. How was this supposed to defeat it?
It was a giant creature that looked like a dragon- part-wolf -part goat.
It had fur, giant teeth, giant arms.
The biggest claws, and biggest growl.
And that awful sound of a howl.
It slobbered, licking its lips with its freakishly long tongue.
It had bat-like ears, and a dog looking nose.
It coughed up a feather, must've been a crows.
The radiation, poor thing, it sounds asthmatic. . .
It had two long horns.
It crouched down into the shack, staring at me hungrily with its slim eyes.
I was about to be served like old fashioned McDonald fries.
I held out my knife with my very shaky hand.
"S-stay back!"
It rushed at me, I rolled underneath its front legs.
I got up, now next to it, it turned its head towards me and snapped at me, I dodged and stabbed it in the side of the face.
I grabbed my back and rushed out of the shack, the creature rushing out and going for a chase.
I stumbled, and fell.
I probably was about to taste as sweet as caramel.
The creature pressed its hands and claws into me. It looked down at me.
Oh please. Spare me let me be free, I hoped.
I managed to bite its hand.
It roared and let go of me.
I got a can of peaches out of my bag. Fast.
Hoping peaches would be my bypass.
I pried the can open, pouring the peaches onto the ground.
The creature sniffed the peaches, it looked at me, then started eating them.
I took a deep breath of relief. Maybe the poor--yet terrifying thing was starving.
It scarfed it down, and then looked at me.
It took a step forward, it looked like it was smiling.
It moved its tail, which had a point on the end, like a devil's.
It lowered its head down to my level.
But I held out my hand slowly, and petted it.
I think, "What the hell am I doing?"
This was an oddly beautiful creature.
Suddenly, It looked at me, and spoke.
"Thank you. For the food."
This is a completed first part of the prose. It is titled, The Chronicles of AL and the Mutant Pal
