Okay so first off, I'm really sorry that this took so freaking long to update. When I put all the other chapters, I was on break so I had a lot of free time. But now school started and then there's homework so updates are going to be slow. But I promise that I'm not going to discontinue the story.
{Also, since this chapter is particularly big, I decided to split them into two parts. And because of this, Part 2 is going to be really short. This is probably gonna happen a few more times throughout the book but once I completely finish this, I'll put them all together}

Within a second, the kitchen sprang to life. At one moment, Misty was in the pantry, taking the ingredients she needed and setting them on the kitchen counter. Then she's on the other side of the kitchen, cutting things and mixing them in a bowl. One of the main ingredients was strawberries, if they aren't ripe enough, then the entire dish would be pointless. Carefully, Misty picked out the strawberries that would work the best with the other ingredients, making sure that they weren't too sweet or too bitter.
Quickly grabbing a knife, Misty swiftly cut half of the strawberries into thin pieces of fruit and piled them all onto a pan to simmer. The strawberries instantly released a sweet and tangy fragrance that slowly filled the kitchen, eventually filling up the entire house. Deciding to keep the other half of the strawberries bigger than the other ones, Misty only cut the remaining in halves. Realizing that the strawberries were in the pan for too long, she rushed over to the stove and slowly stirred the strawberries so that some extracts were forming at the bottom.
She collected all of the remaining ingredients, but with her own variations. Using butter instead of oil on the trays so that the base isn't greasy, placing a few almonds for crunch, and pouring some strawberry puree into the batter to allow some of the flavor to run throughout the cake. She poured half of the strawberry extracts into the dough and folded it repeatedly to encase the flavor in a cage of eggs and flour. Every ingredient served some type of significant job that would pile up to form the final dish. None of the ingredients were there just for a simple reason. And no ingredient would serve one purpose. Only when everything was combined, would there be what Misty was looking for.
Everything else was just as important. Once the dough was kneaded to the right, consistency, Misty reached for the rolling pin and began to flatten it out. She made sure to put enough pressure on the wooden instrument so that enough weight would be placed onto the dough, which was more difficult than most things, but after a few minutes, she finally finished.
"Hey Haisley," She called out.
"Yeah, do you need something?" Haisley replied, instantly snapping her head up from her notebook.
"Actually, I do. What's your favorite shape?"
"I'm sorry, what?
"Yeah, you heard me, now hurry up, there's not much time left."
Haisley glanced down at her phone and turned it on to look at the time. "Oh, you're better than keeping time than me. But if I had to choose, I'd choose squares."
"Hm, good choice, I like squares." Misty acknowledged. She cut out 9 boxlike shapes from the dough, placed them on a tray, and set it inside the preheated oven, not bothering to put any gloves on as she touched the hot piece of metal
"I'm glad I've met your expectations," Haisley smiled. "Also, you have 10 minutes left."
"That's good, I can add something special."
