Musical: Falsettos
Ship: Platonic/Familial Whizzer and Jason
Type: Fluff
Warnings: Running Away (Kind of?)
~~We all know that Whizzer and Marvin got back together after Whizzer showed up at Jason's baseball game two years after their breakup. We all know Jason asked Whizzer to be there. But how did Jason let Whizzer know he wanted him there? I like to think it went a little something like this...
~~Jason sat on his bed, looking through the phone book. Finally, he found the person he was looking for and wrote down the information.
"Jason, are you ready to go?" his mom yelled from outside of his room. Jason put the piece of paper in his pocket and picked up his backpack, opening the door. He followed his mom to her car and got in the passenger seat.
He was used to this routine. Every Friday, his mom would drive him to the bus stop, and he would take the bus and get off on the third stop. From there, it was only a two minute walk to his dad's apartment. But this time, he was taking a little detour.
Before too long, his mom's car came to a stop.
"Okay, sweetie. Be good, have fun. Don't eat too much junk food. I love you" Trina said, giving her son a kiss on the forehead.
"Love you too, Mom" he replied, hopping out of the car.
About a minute later, the bus pulled up. Jason pulled out the piece of paper and showed it to the driver.
"What stop would be closest to this address?" he asked
"The fifth one" the driver replied. Jason nodded and thanked the man.
'That's only two past where I normally go. I can handle that' he thought to himself as he sat down. He pulled out his Walkman and put on his headphones, turning on some music.
He counted how many times the bus stopped. When it reached number five, he put his Walkman back in his backpack and got off.
He walked down the streets, looking for the correct building. When he found it, he walked into the lobby and up the first flight of stairs. He walked down the hall and stopped in front of apartment twenty-two.
Jason took a deep breath. He had made it this far, but now was the scary part. Actually talking to the man he had come to see. He slowly raised his fist and knocked on the door.
About thirty seconds later, it opened, and Jason saw just who he wanted to see.
"Hi, Whizzer" Jason greeted
"Jay-bird? What are you doing here?" Whizzer asked "Wait, actually, come inside before you answer that. It's cold in the hallway."
Jason walked into the apartment and Whizzer closed the door behind him.
"Do you want some hot chocolate or something?" Whizzer offered
"No thanks. I'm probably not gonna be here for long. My parents don't know I'm here and I don't want to scare them too much" Jason replied, sitting down on Whizzer's couch
"...Okay. So, why are you here?" Whizzer asked, still very confused about the entire situation
"Well, I've started playing baseball" Jason explained "But I'm like... really bad, and my other dads aren't much help. And I know you're pretty good at baseball. And I have a game coming up soon. And there's this girl I kinda like, and she said she might come to the game... so I wanna do well so I can impress her"
Whizzer started to see where this was going.
"So... would you maybe be willing to... come to the game and give me some tips?" Jason asked
"...Why can't I just help you out now?" Whizzer asked
Jason took a moment to come up with a good response. He wanted Whizzer at the game because he needed the help, but he also wanted Whizzer at the game because he had seen how lonely his dad seemed without him around so he wanted to bring them back together. Of course, he couldn't tell Whizzer that...
"Because I don't have time right now. I need to get to my dad's apartment before too long. I don't want him to worry that I got lost or anything" Jason lied
"That makes sense" Whizzer replied "When's the game? I'll have to check my calendar, but if I can make it, I'll be there"
"It's next Saturday" Jason replied "As in like a week from tomorrow. At 2 pm"
"I can probably make that work" Whizzer responded, thinking it over "But also... I want to hear more about this girl sometime, okay?"
Jason laughed "Okay. I'll tell you all about her sometime. But I really should get home soon"
"Of course" Whizzer replied "Do you want me to drive you to your dad's place? Or do you want bus money and you can handle it from there?"
"Just bus money works" Jason said. Whizzer chuckled and pulled out his wallet, handing Jason a couple bills.
"Thanks, Whizzer" Jason said with a smile. He hesitated a moment before wrapping his arms around the man and adding "I love you"
Whizzer froze for a moment out of surprise. He slowly wrapped his arms around Jason, replying "I love you too"
Jason broke the hug pretty quickly after that. He gave Whizzer one more thank you, then walked out the door, heading back to the bus stop.
Whizzer went into his kitchen and looked at the calendar hanging in his fridge. He sighed, looking at the red writing on the date of Jason's baseball game.
'Work 1:45-3:30'
He weighed his options. He knew the client he was supposed to meet up with was decently rich, and had some extravagant ideas for photoshoots. Ideas that would probably get Whizzer promoted if he could pull them off. But on the other hand... Jason was such a sweet kid, and Whizzer really didn't want to let him down. He sighed again, walking to his phone and picking it up, dialing his boss' number.
"Hey. It's Whizzer. I'm going to need to take next Saturday off. I know I had an appointment with a big client, but something came up. A... family thing. That I really can't miss"
