"You know Mom's going to find out," Danys said. "Her eyes are like torture devices."
Amara sucked her teeth. "Don't make eye contact with her."
"That's easy for you to say. You don't live here. You got an apartment. Far away."
"Just do your best."
Danys rolled her eyes as she exited the car. Amara remained seated. Her mind going back to the encounter. The man she considered the love of her life was going to marry someone else.
Danys leaned in from the outside. "You okay," she said concerned.
Amara sighed. "Yeah."
