After I got over my bewilderment, I sat down while he made me coffee. I rubbed the back of my neck while he placed the mug and sat across from me. After a while of silence, Clove spoke up, seemingly not bothered."So what brings you here, Lacelock?" He crossed his legs and enclasped his hands.
"Well...I, I broke up with Ryder," Clove's lips turned into a smile for a moment, "I told him to get his stuff and leave and um...that I wouldn't be at my house."
"So where are you gonna be?" I stared at Clove, face getting warm with embarrassment. "Wait, don't tell me you want to stay here!" He smiled and laughed, with a hand on his face.
"Stop laughing I have no where else to stay!" My neck and face were hot.
"I mean, you can stay but I don't...have a guest room," Clove had stopped laughing after a while.
"Then why is it so big?!" Clove choked on his coffee and bursted into laughter. I could feel myself start to sweat, "I meant your house, creep!"
"Most of the rooms are either only windows, for extra entrances or rooms for the cats," I got excited and my eyes widened.
"You have cats?!"
"Yeah there's a lot of strays so I just...let them chill in my house." He paused, "I haven't been much of a dog person ever since..."
"What? What happened?" I prodded.
"Well um, It'll make more sense if I show you the scars, don't freak out, okay?" He stood up, removing his jacket and then his shirt, despite his warning, I was freaking out. I was also figuring out why it was so easy for him to climb through windows.
His skin was marked with scars under his chest, from a surgery of sorts, but the scars that drew more attention stretched from his left arm to his stomach and back. They were strangely large, like a dog but much, much larger.
"Holy fuck. What the hell happened?!" I stood up and rushed to him.
"Some werewolf attacked me," I looked at him and burst into laughter, he just looked confused.
"Yeah right, and I wasn't a warriors cat kid!" He just looked at me.
"Uhhh...now would probably be a good time to tell you that Ryder is said werewolf." My face fell in annoyance.
"This joke isn't very funny, Clove." He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I'm not kidding. Did you never think it was weird that Ryder is just some orphan who can talk to dogs?!" I still didn't believe him, why would I?
"You have no proof, I have literally no reason to believe some criminal that doesn't know how to use doors." I crossed my arms and leaned to one side.
"Well, I can prove something about myself to make you believe at least a little of what I'm saying." His blood orange eyes battered and he moved a little closer to me.
He blinked and when he opened his eyes back up, they were red and I, I could hear him, but he-he wasn't talking! Do you believe me now, Lacelock? My throat ran dry and I swallowed.
"What-what are you..?" He grabbed my chin and made me look up at him.
"I prefer the term pure-blood vae, but as humans would call me," Clove moved a little closer and I wondered if he was reading my mind, so I tried to keep my thoughts suppressed. "A vampire." He smiled and I noticed the sharp canine teeth I failed to observe before.
"Wh-what?! But then—how are you able to go in the sunlight?! Why haven't you bit me—HAVE YOU BEEN BITING ME IN MY SLEEP?!" I didn't take the news too well, I pushed Clove back and a million questions ran through my mind.
