After that Halloween party, Mim's silly dances now have bigger crowds and sometimes different venues. Mim couldn't actually believe that it was working, but there she was on another Friday night, at another house party, about to do the Macarena in the middle of the dance floor, this time with no costumes and no mask to hide behind. She was still nervous, but not as scared anymore. Soon enough, the whole party was doing the Macarena and you could clearly hear everyone shouting "HEYYY MACARENA!". Once again, Mim slipped away before the song ended, but this time she didn't leave and she just observed.
"You okay?" A voice said into her ear. Mim looked over and noticed that it was Katelyn
"Yeah. It was fun." Mim said honestly looking back out at the party still dancing
"Good good. I heard 'Showtime' is next Wednesday? Auditorium?" Katelyn asked
"Yeah. Will you be there?" Mim asked as she looked over at Katelyn
"Wouldn't miss it." Katelyn said sincerely while looking into Mim's eyes.
They're shaken from the moment when Nash comes up behind them and stands between them with an arm over each of their shoulders.
"Come on you two. We're heading back for movie night." He says while guiding them back to their friends and out the door.
As the day of 'Showtime'' approaches, Mim is brimming with nervous energy. It takes all of her self-restraint to not bolt straight out of school and home once Wednesday afternoon comes around.
She's backstage now, trying to talk her way out of the costume that Tiny has made.
"Do I really have to wear it?" Mim asks
"Yes. Even Liza's wearing hers." Tiny shares
Mim still looks unsure, though with the knowledge that even her twin agreed to put on such a thing is startling her.
"Come on Mim. You might as well go all out!" Tiny pushes
Mim, thinking she'll just get this over and done with, agrees to the shiny baby blue costume.
"It'll be great!" Tiny says enthusiastically while helping her sister into the outfit.
Once she's in costume, Mim's feet get shoved into some low silver heels and she's handed the most ridiculous looking feather hand fan that's the size of her torso, almost the same color as her outfit. Then she's not given much chance to think and pushed towards the stage, where her twin, in the exact same outfit as hers, is waiting center stage behind the curtain.
"You ready for this?" Liza asks her
"No." Mim says deadpanned
"I know you know this routine. It's your favorite Christmas Movie. You'll be fine" Liza says encouragingly
"Easy for you to say." Mim replies
"No it's not. I'm just as terrified, Mims." Liza says honestly, looking at her sister
"Then why are we doing this?" Mim questions, ready to call the whole thing off
"Because it's for you." Liza says matter-of-factly with shrug of her shoulders
Mim doesn't know how to respond to that. So Liza continues.
"Now let's do this. The sooner we're done the sooner we can get out of these ridiculous costumes." Liza says with distaste, pulling at the sleeve of her arm length glove.
Mim gives her a nervous smile and nods her head. Liza looks over to her right and signals someone to start. Liza and Mim get into their first position and wait until they hear their older sister through the speakers.
