Next day Throne Room (Pronouns used for Loki: she/her)
The suitors stood in a line, nervously awaiting Loki’s arrival. They had been told to gather, as today was the day they would find out who was leaving and what the second contest would entail. The silence in the room was thick with anticipation.
Not even five minutes had passed before the gates of the throne room were opened, and Loki entered. The princess was dressed in a knee-length green dress, her back open and revealing soft skin beneath. The long lace sleeves of her gown, decorated with intricate floral patterns, added a touch of elegance to her appearance. Her hair, left to flow freely, was adorned with a silver circlet that featured small emerald leaves.
Her black heels clicked against the marble floor as she walked toward the line of suitors. The room fell silent, all eyes on her.
“I wish you all a good morning,” Loki began, her voice calm but authoritative. “I have the results from the first contest. Afterward, I will explain the second task.”
Loki held up a parchment in her hand and glanced at it briefly before continuing. “I will now announce the names of the suitors who will be leaving. Nephuus of Muspelheim, Ivar of Nilfheim, and Mia of Midgard. You are to pack your belongings. Guards will escort you to your homelands.”
The tension in the room was palpable as the three suitors walked out, heads low with disappointment. Loki rolled up the parchment and placed it down on the table, watching the departing figures with an impassive expression.
“Now, on to the second contest,” Loki continued, her gaze sweeping across the remaining suitors. “Today, you will prove your knowledge in politics. Each of you will attend a council meeting with me, where you will be asked to solve a political issue. Those with the best solutions will earn the most points. The results will be announced tomorrow morning. Any form of cheating will not be tolerated. You are not allowed to discuss your solutions with the other suitors. If any of you are caught cheating, you will be expelled immediately.”
The suitors all nodded, some muttering their understanding under their breath.
“Very well,” Loki said, her voice calm but firm. “The meetings start now. First, I would like Njal to accompany me.”
Loki made eye contact with Njal, signaling for him to follow her. She led him to the meeting room, where several important members of the royalty were already gathered. She gestured for Njal to take a seat beside her.
“What will we discuss today?” Loki asked, turning her attention to the council members.
“Well, milady,” Freyr, the god of harvest, began, “We’ve been dealing with famine recently. The harvest wasn’t bountiful, and many of our lower-class citizens are suffering from hunger. Do either of you have suggestions on how we could address this issue?”
