"See I was here before you" Cat rolls her eyes "not hard to miss" she mutters Alex vaguely remembers coming to this same fair in college with Kara when the blonde had bad days and half of the time Alex was working the rides since it paid well.
"Can't believe I let you talk me into this.." the blonde mutters fingers lacing with Alex's "well...I haven't been in years and I thought it would be fun so did April" Cat rolls her eyes "of course she did me and Chad could've stayed home read a good book" Alex raises a brow "yeah usually when you say that you're taking three work calls."
Alex guides her towards most of the food where they can see Chad and April "hey so I was wondering if would this be our first or second date?" Cats eyes bore into Alex's head "I'm just asking for a friend!" The brunette is quick to add and the blonde rolls her eyes "first Skull" Alex nods "good okay."
Cat stops them "why" Alex shakes her head "nothing bad just told Kara I'd tell her when we went on our first date but I'm pretty sure this is like our third but official first right?" Cat hums tugging Alex to the other couple "right."
"Hey!" April grins at them and Alex grins back "hey" Cat wonders if maybe in another universe she and Alex have done the same thing before because she keeps getting the sense of deja vu but she shrugs it off as they go get some food mostly sandwiches before going to check out some of the rides.
She regrets everything "I'm not getting on that-that death trap" Alex pouts "but Cat it'll be fun" the blonde glares April and Chad had went to get on another ride the two had already been on so Alex took the chance to try and get Cat to go on one last ride.
"Skully I am forty-something years old and I don't plan on having a heart attack no" Alex raises a brow "forty-something?" She snorts "c'mon cat you can't be older than thirty" the blonde glares "flattery will get you somewhere at home but not here" Alex huffs "this is the last one then we'll play the games please Cat.."
That stupid pout Cat hated so much was back and the blonde sighed "fine" Alex grins bouncing on her feet she's quick to tug Cat to the pendulum which was yellow blue and red and the second tallest ride apart from the Farris wheel and slingshot "if I die I will haunt you" Cat growls and Alex casts a quick glance to her to make sure it was only half true.
The ride had six separate seating parts and Alex tugs Cat to the farthest side where surprisingly no one else sits Cat sighs pulling the black harness down bucking it with some muttering and Alex looks at her "you'll be fine can't tell me you've never been on h to is before" Cat huffs "I was eighteen once I hit my twenties I barely saw this place."
She felt free Alex doesn't remember the last time she felt like she was flying without alcohol or the minor use of drugs but this was amazing the wind blew through her hair and it felt amazing she grins eyes closing in content.
A hand firmly clasps hers and her eyes open looking at Cat the blonde was tense and pale but other than that she's hiding her fear well Alex squeezes her hand and blue eyes meet brown and tense shoulders relax color coming back to her face as she looks into Alex's soft reassuring eyes.
"Okay?" There's a noise that reaches Alex's ears that sounds like a throaty squeak and Cat slumps into her seat cheeks red the brunette chuckles grinning "what was that? Cat got your tongue" the older woman glares "shut up.." she grumbles and Alex laughs which makes Cat smile.
April and Chad wait for them as they get off and Cat pushes herself into Alex's arms "I'm never getting on that ride ever again" she murmurs into the brunette's neck and Alex hums rubbing the woman's back "alright fair where to next?" April points to the games "I'm leaving with one of these stuffed animals whether he likes it or not."
Cat tugs Alex to the ballon darts seeing a stuffed animal she likes "want me to play?" She nods and the man working the game comes up smiling they'd seen two other ballon dart games but their prizes were small this was the biggest one and had bigger prizes.
"Five or ten?" Alex glances at Cat "five" she puts seven dollars in the man's hand getting five darts the blonde watches in amusement as two gallons get popped by one dart and three the second Alex doesn't even have to try as she pops three more balloons with her last three darts.
"You could pick your prize off this wall or keep playing and get whatever's hanging above" the brunette looks to Cat who nods "ten" she hands him fifteen this time getting ten darts it wasn't so different from training with blades and daggers when she first joined the DEO so popping more than one balloon with one dart wasn't surprising for her to others not so much.
"Alright choose your prize" Cat points to the big brown sloth and the man grins "this is the popular one with the ladies tonight," he says taking it down and handing it to the blonde and Alex smiles at how it was almost as big as Cat the blonde grins though.
Chad carries a large round stuffed fox looking to them "April went to get some snacks for the road I'm supposed to be your guide do you think she'll kill me if I give this away? She has a whole room full by now" Alex chuckles "she might."
The blonde hands Alex the sloth grabbing the brunettes held out wallet "hey!" Cat only smiles sweetly "what I almost died on that ride I should at least get something out of it alright I'll bring you something back though" Alex grunts sitting beside Chad on a bench away from the commotion as Cat joins April in her snack gathering.
"Good night?" She hums "yeah.." they both don't take their eyes off the two women "we've met our matches haven't we?" Alex asks and he hums "she wasn't this wild when we met she was hiding the fun side of her after a bad relationship and I brung her here to propose and suddenly I saw the April I was meant to see the full her I'd never loved her more."
They come back with candy apples and decorated boxes with something sweet in it there was a white one with rainbow sprinkles was more pizza box-shaped and had funnel cakes in them the other one was blue fading into white and was more octagon shaped with fried Oreos in them the two stand.
"Bye Alex! Cat!" They wave Alex having already put their things in the car Chad waves also "see ya" they say in unison as the couple gets in their truck Cat turns to Alex "did you walk here?" The brunette nods "it's only a ten minute walk" she shrugs "and I took a Uber to work anyway" Cat hums throwing Alex the keys to the car "your driving I'm tired."
Alex didn't mind hopping into the front seat and turning the radio on low watching Cat's head lean against the window "we're going back to the city?" Cat shrugs "doesn't matter to me but as much as I like the hotels here I really want to be in my bed with my silk sheets" Alex nods "to the city."
The blondes out cold in the passenger seat when they get to the woman's apartment Alex just takes up all the other things they got first putting the candy apples in the fridge and the empty food boxes in the trash putting the sloth on the couch she makes her way to the car where Cat sleeps turned the other way she opens the door lifting the sleeping blonde into her arms.
Alex realizes she hardly checked her phone the whole night and takes the time to look through it as she brushes her teeth in the smaller bathroom instead of Cat's master bathroom it was crazy on how she practically moved in and they'd only just started dating.
'Coming to town early see you next Friday'
Alex sighs she spent a good two minutes staring at that message from her mother everything gets more complicated and she can only get so many breaks.
"Alex..?" She peeks out into the hall she wasn't doing anything by now just texting Kara who'd still been up about where their mother would stay "yeah babe?" Cat smiles sleepily she'd stripped her pants and put on one of Alex's T-shirts which was a bit too long.
"Come to bed" Alex doesn't hesitate to turn the bathroom light out walking towards Cat who tugs her into the room and bed she doesn't care where her phone landed as she lets it go arms circling Cats waits the blondes head tucked into her chest.
