Chapter twenty two.
Katherine's pov:

"Ok, so I have picked out a few dresses I think would look wonderful on you beforehand, but you can of course try on others too." Silas's mother said smiling brightly at me as we entered the dress shop.

A lady greeted us and we were showed to a room where all the dresses were. The lady offered the others some wine before walking me to the dressing room.

The first dress I tried on was fine, really they all were. But I couldn't stop thinking of how unnecessary this all would be, as there was going to be no wedding, but I couldn't let them know that.

So I tried on each and every one Alice had picked out for me without complaining—or a little complaining there was. A few of the wedding dresses were a hell of a job to put on and off, so they were a immediate no. "Yeah, you can't have one that's too hard to take off. Silas won't like that very much." Ezra said winking at me after I'd told them the one I was trying on was a lot of work to take off.

I gave him my middle finger and walked back into the dressing room to try on the last one of the dresses. We had a few we liked—Alice liked, but no "wow's" yet.

The last one was a bit hard to take off, alone at least, but it was gorgeous. Not too much as many of the others were and definitely not a regular one either.

I walked out to the others struggling a little due to the big skirt. Alice's mouth fell agape as she saw me and I laughed a little at her reaction. "What do you think of this one?" I asked looking at all of them.

"Holy fuck." Ezra said pouring himself another glass of wine. He'd be drunk by the time we'd get home.

"You look wonderful. Oh all of them looked beautiful, but this—" Alice said seeming all lost of words.

Alexander was smiling as I looked over at him for approval. "The real question is what do you think, because it's clear how we feel about this one." He said sitting back in his chair.

I was surprised none of them had gotten tired and gone home yet. We'd been here quite a while.

"I think it's very pretty." I said speaking my truth. The corner of my lip tugged upwards as I looked at myself in the mirror. Never had I pictured myself in this situation.

No. This doesn't mean anything, because soon it'll all be over. This game will finally come to an end. But how do you know for sure someone trust you. He could be lying just like I am.

Alice came up behind me and gave me a big hug, looking at me in the mirror as well. "We'll take this one then." She smiled.

Later the same day I got a call. My father.

"Hello?" I said picking up the phone in question.

"Are you alone?" He asked with a sort of desperate tone in his voice. What could he possibly want from me now.

"Yes." I was in my room, had been ever since we got back from the store.

"Why have you not done it yet? I just got a invite to the wedding, was the task not clear enough for you?" He hissed through the phone.

"I haven't got the chance yet. He doesn't trust me, I'm working on it." I lowered my voice in case someone were to walk by and hear me talking.

He sighed loudly and I heard something break through the line. It sounded like glass. "I expect you to finish the tasks I give you. But honestly what can I expect from you. Useless that's what you are!" I felt my blood boil, but I was so thankful I wasn't in the same room as him right now. The things he would have done to me—
