The bus had finally stopped outside of the school, and Evan finally slunk out of the bus after it'd been cleared out. Mrs. Montgomery had already escorted the other kids into the building, so Evan had to walk in by himself. He preferred it that way, as being among the same gossiping, catty classmates for the entire bus ride was more than enough for him. He got off the bus and ambled to his classroom. The other kids had already gone to the activity stations. He placed his bag into his cubby and went over to the reading area. Kids barely went there in the first place, and the few kids who did frequent that station were timid. They just steered clear of that station, essentially making it Evan's own. But two kids went over to grab a book, seeing Evan as they reached for the bookshelf. It was Joshua, with Avery close behind him. Joshua froze up, with Avery shielding him. "The freak's blocking the bookshelf!" She exclaimed. "I'm not blocking anything. I'm on the other side of the shelf." He rebutted. "We don't know what you'll do, you're dangerous!" She retorted. "Just grab the book and leave me alone." He muttered under his breath. "See, you're scary and mean!" She yelled. Evan stood up from his seat abruptly, his eyes widened with rage. "I said go away!" He exclaimed through gritted teeth, a faint buzzing sound could be heard as he balled his fists. Joshua and Avery shrieked, scampering back to the water play area. Mrs. Montgomery picked up on the commotion, heading over. She picked up Evan, staring at him. "What'd you do?" She asked sternly. "I didn't do anything! They were bullying me again!" Evan answered. She sighed, placing him back on the floor. "Look. I don't know what's happening between you and the rest of the class but it needs to stop. I'm sorry but if the entire class is saying you're in the wrong, I'm gonna believe them. You're here for timeout until the end of the day." Evan gulped to hold back his tears, knowing they'd get him nowhere. She picked him up and carried him over to a corner of the classroom, hidden by more shelves. She placed him in the lone chair behind the shelves, feeling a foreboding sense emitting from Evan. A buzzing, almost crackling noise could be heard from him. She backed away hesitantly, apprehensive. There's no way he's an anomaly. Right? I mean, he could've used whatever power he has on any of those kids. But he hasn't yet. He's just... weird. She contemplated as she walked away. She glanced back at him as he stared off into space, his mind clashing like a storm as he restrained himself. Definitely just weird. She thought, brushing it off nervously.
