The time had come for kids to start being dismissed and picked up by their parents. Mrs. Montgomery walked towards the corner Evan sat in to tell him his time was up. When she approached, he was already out of his chair and waiting to get his things from his cubby. "Um, Evan, it's the end of the da—" She started. "I can tell." He interrupted coldly, brushing past her. She shot him a passing glare, annoyed. Well okay then, you little shit. She scoffed and stood by the door for him to clear out his cubby. He slung his backpack over his shoulder, trailing behind her as they left the classroom.

Evan skipped the niceties, muttering "Bye," to Mrs. Montgomery as he boarded the bus instead of his enthusiastic wave goodbye. She gave him a small smile and a polite wave to not be seen as cold or uncaring by the parents walking by with their children in tow. She sighed, dropping the facade and turning to head to her car resignedly.

Kids were a lot unusually quiet on the bus as Evan strode along the aisle. Even the usual perpetrators of the catty rumors that continuously spread about him stayed quiet, sensing an ominous and frustrated aura surrounding his every step. He sat in his essentially-assigned seat at the back of the bus, fiddling with his fingers to distract him from his malcontent. The bus eventually stopped in front of his house as he strolled to the exit, slightly pleased with the lack of chattering about him today. He trod up the steps to his house and grasped the doorknob, it warming in his hands. A quick and faint sizzle popped when he made contact before the door burst. He was blown back by the force of the wood splintering and scattering across the lawn, the doorknob conducting and injecting the unrestrained electricity from Evan's hand, blowing it up from the inside. His parents ran to the door, hearing a sudden crashing at the front of their house. They were met with their door nothing but a smoking doorframe as Evan clutched his head on the lawn, the remains of their door having been sprinkled along the grass. The bus hadn't pulled off yet, the entire incident playing out in front of his classmates. "Evan, what happened here?!" Miranda exclaimed, dashing to his side. "He may be hurt, I'm gonna get a first-aid kit!" Timothy added, darting back into the house. Evan turned around, seeing a crowd of shocked and petrified children, all staring at the ordeal. Embarrassed and angry, Evan pushed his mom aside, rushing into the house as he sobbed. The bus pulled out quickly after that as Miranda ran behind him. "Evan! Evan, come back! We need to know what happened, you're not in trouble!" She exclaimed to no avail. She sighed, retreating into the house as she prepared to tend to Evan's peril.
