"how the absolute fuck did you get away?" tommy said with wide eyes since tubbo seemed to be in too much of a happy shock to speak yet.
"tubbo isn't the only one with friends," ranboo shrugged and called over a pink haired female over to them, he put his feet down and she sat awkwardly beside tommy, with a big gap between the two.
"this is niki, she's heading to the netherlands so she is only staying a few stops," niki waved at the two others as she was introduced and they nodded as a greeting," but i called her while running and she picked me up," he explained.
"thank you so much," tubbo spoke, going out to shake her hand, she returned the greeting and bowed slightly. "i'm tubbo, this is tommy," tubbo was never one to speak to strangers first. usually tommy was the social one, but he was so grateful that he stepped a bit out of his comfort zone.
"no need to thank me, me and ranboo go way back," they switched seats so ranboo was beside her, with tubbo in front of him and tommy beside tubbo. "plus, it was funny seeing him run," she laughed as ranboo pushed her slightly.
"the one time i liked these long legs of mine during this trip," he grumbled, causing the others to laugh at his expense.
realization dawned upon the youngest of the group, "wait does she know? do you know?" he asked, first looking at ranboo, then at niki. he let out a relieved sigh when they both shook their heads.
"it's not my place to know," niki explained. "all i know is that you can't go back to your hometown, and that you are hiding from the police," she didn't seem curious to know either. tommy was grateful for that- not that he doesn't trust her, but he didn't want it spoken into existence yet again.
"thanks," tommy muttered and looked out the window as they went through a tunnel.
"i only ask for check ins every few days," she looked at ranboo since he is the only one that can contact her. "i don't need to know anything, just that you are all safe and alive." ranboo agreed.
"which reminds me, i should text gogy," tubbo said and took out his phone, "i will just tell him that ranboo angered some police," after some protesting from a certain 6'6 male, he changed his text, "that we angered some police but are on the last train," he sent it and didn't wait for a response before he put his phone back into his pocket.
the trip went by with small talk, until niki stood up, "this is my stop," niki wished them luck, and threatened to cut ranboo's hand off if he didn't update her, before jumping off the train, leaving the original three back on the train.
"what are we going to do when we get there, big man?" tubbo asked and turned to face tommy, who he directed the question at.
"well, from what we researched, it's a small town, so we can ask around," he then remembered that he was with two anti-social introverts. "i will do all the talking," he said, acting as if he wanted to so his friends don't get forced to do something they didn't want to.
"good thing we have a plan, because we have twenty minutes until we are there," tubbo said, adnd checked ranboo's phone. ranboo shuffled around in his seat and that's when they noticed he had a plastic bag with him.
"i didn't know what you liked so i got you ham and cheese," he said awkwardly with a store-bought sandwich in his hand- outstretched to tommy. then he threw tubbo his blt. "i had mine with niki," he said and they started eating while ranboo checked the recent news.
"we aren't on the news yet, but tommy- your missing story is still going around," ranboo said, it wasn't the worse right now, he clicked in on the article, "they think you are in london, and they didn't connect us to him so we are safe right now. just some teenagers causing trouble"
"how are you feeling, tom?" tubbo asked, and tommy stopped to think of a proper answer. he asked himself that question once again.
"i can leave for a minute if you wanna talk alone," ranboo said, not knowing if he was the reason for tommy's silence, but dismissed that idea when he got told to stay without any hesitation.
"i think it still hasn't hit me yet, I'm excited but also afraid, y'know," he scratched his neck, "i might miss my 'parents', we were still close, what are you both going to do after this?" even though he asked tubbo, he wanted to know ranboo's answer.
"i am at a loss on what to do," ranboo sighed and looked out the window, he couldn't make out proper shapes, everything merged to blurs of colors as they passed. "being fair, i didn't even expect to get this far," he trailed off and licked his lips while he avoided eye contact.
everything has been going so fast, they haven't had time to really sit down, so they enjoyed the small amount of time they have to recoup. just the three of them sitting there, not needing to do anything for now.
"let me take a photo, i don't want to forget this," tommy said, and even though all three of them knew there was no chance of forgetting this, they all smiled at the phone camera in ranboo's hand- tubbo's request, and smiled brightly.
the first photo came out with ranboo's face only half in the corner, tommy has his thumbs up and tubbo bared his teeth into a grin. the photos following it consisted of many different poses, with many photos coming out as half blurry or fully unintelligible.
it wasn't long before their station name came up through the intercom and they jumped out, they managed to get off the train right before the doors closed and it sped off to the next station.
