Secrets that should've been left untold

Chapter 4

Weeks and months passed by and Xiao would often visit Venti on the band club room after school everyday, if Xiao was in a good mood he'd hang out with Venti out in the city every weekends. Xiao started to rebel against his parents and leave the house without telling them where he's going sometimes he'd even bring Ganyu along with him and Venti, he even tried skipping class for once, with Venti again of course. He got to experience things outside studying thanks to Venti, he wonders what would have he been doing if he never met him.

It felt like a flower bloomed on the dead and miserable place he was locked in for so long, flowers bloomed in his heart whenever he was with Venti, whenever Venti would drag him into reckless things and ends up enjoying it.

Time passed and Xiao got used to that smile Venti would always have on his face, Xiao felt happiness in Venti's comfort. Venti felt like home, someone and somewhere he'll always go back to. Venti was warm.

"Ease up a bit don't panick if you press the wrong keys, im here to help you remember?"
Even Venti's words were warm, Xiao thought to himself.

"Just a few more improvements here and there and you might even surpass my skills! Im jealous, you're a fast learner im a little scared you might snatch away my future title hehe!"

Xiao couldn't help but let out a small and short laugh, "You think so?"

"Well of course! You're learning from the best so i guess it's kinda normal"

Sometimes it felt like learning was just an excuse to see Venti every day, Xiao learned to open up to him and to see him as not someone from the band club, but as his friend.

But Xiao's heart dropped when he came to the band club room locked, Venti wasn't there, he should be sitting there and playing tunes by now. Where could Venti be? This was the first time he didn't see Venti inside the club room, it felt weird, it felt cold inside the club room without Venti.

"I wasn't feeling very well so i left early, don't wait for me and go home" Venti left a note on top of the piano, Xiao felt relieved but when he realized Venti was sick he couldn't just ignore it.

"Should i call him? No, maybe it's better to not bother him for now so he can rest. Maybe i should check up on him just for a short while wouldn't hurt right? This is driving me crazy, he'll come back tomorrow"

Three days passed, playing the piano was no fun when Venti wasn't around. Venti wasn't there to correct his mistakes, he was all alone again, it felt lonely without Venti.

"Playing alone?" He was there, he finally came back.

"Venti! Y..you where have you been? It's been days!"

"It's only been three days calm down! Oh? Was it that boring without me? You missed me didn't you!" For once Xiao let him tease him, he's gotta admit that not only did he miss Venti, he missed his teasing and that smile on his face too.

"I did not! How are you feeling anyways?"

"I feel great! Good as new, i feel like i can stand outside while its raining for a whole day and i wouldn't catch a cold!"

Things went back to normal, Xiao was glad that he continued to see Venti playing on the band club room everytime he arrives. He couldn't imagine seeing the image of Venti not seating there, Venti being somewhere else, Him being alone without Venti, it scares him.

"Xiao, i feel dizzy"

"Dizzy? Wait no is your nose bleeding Ven—"

"Hey Venti are you okay?!"

Just like that Venti was out cold and unconscious, Xiao didn't know what was happening but he knew that he needed to rush in and call for help.

"Thank you for bringing him here, he in fact kept sneaking out of the hospital, he's rather a mischievous patient"

"Was he admitted here already?" Xiao asked in confusion

"Yes Venti is a regular patient, he isn't supposed to go out of the hospital because of his condition"

"Condition? Is it really that dangerous?"

"We're currently trying to cur—"

"Thank you Mister but thats enough, ill explain it to my dear friend myself" Venti was finally awake after passing out and being unconscious for hours, Xiao was about to take his leave but i guess he'll have to stay for a little longer.

"You're awake! Condition? You're okay right? It's not serious right? I mean you suddenly passed ou—"

"Pfft! I'll get better soon, I was just a little tired most of the time and i suddenly pass out sometimes so i was admitted here often"

"Venti you look pale"

"Me? Pale? That's ridiculous!"

Two unfamiliar people came into Venti's hospital room, a tall man who looked older than both of them and a woman next to him.

"Venti"

"Hey Xiao i think it's better if you go home, your parents might scold you if you stay much longer here"

"No let him stay for a minute, you can't just lie to him about your condition Venti" Xiao got goosebumps after hearing the tall person speak, he looked like a tough guy but wow what is that deep voice. ( Author down bad in this dialogue fr )

"Go home Xiao"

"Venti you know how bad your condition is, didn't Mom and Dad tell you to stay inside the hospital? We even brought your piano all the way from Seoul here, when will you stop visiting that club room you love so much?!"

"Calm down brother, he's sick don't yell at him"

"Mister Xiao I am Ei and this is our older brother Zhongli, please head home now and thank you for bringing our brother here"

"Venti has siblings...? O-oh yes no problem! I'll be going home now" Xiao waves goodbye to Venti, even at a situation like this Venti was still smiling at him.

As soon as he shut closed the hospital room's door, he heard Venti yelling, for the first time. He couldn't help but overhear their conversation, Xiao was too curious on top of that hearing Venti yell was new to him.

"Did you have to do that Zhongli?! In front of my friend seriously? Can't you read the room I was trying not to make him worry!"

"What? You shouldn't be spending your time going out with friends, you should be in bed getting rest so your condition doesn't get wo—"

"That's enough, both of you, have some respect for each other were siblings!"

"Enough? I've had enough staying in this damn hospital room for half of my life, I'd rather die soon having fun with my friends rather than living a long life locked in this stuffy room"

And that was Xiao's sign to leave, he heard too much and he wished he didn't.

Author notes: OK EVERYONE, the long awaited angst ( i mean i feel like i was too excited to write angst that i skipped time too much ) is finally on its way!! The next few chapters will be filled with angst yum yum, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I kept taking breaks in between writing this one sooooo i hope it wasn't too boring
