Farewell, my beloved

Chapter 5

"Xiao? What are you doing here?"

"Im here to visit someone"

"Hehe! Is that someone me? But isn't today a weekday? What about school?"

"I won't be going to school for a while, I'll stay here with you until your condition improves"

"What? Come one you don't have to besides won't your parents scold you? I know how tough they are on you ya know"

"Enough talking and eat, i bought food from the shop you like"

Xiao's schedules changed again, he sneaks out of school and spends the whole day with Venti at the hospital. He could hear the whispers about Venti's condition here and there, what ifs filled his thoughts. Not being able to see Venti for three days when he was sick was already terrifying enough, what if Venti disappear for good, who would be there to drag him into the rain when life was suffocating, who would be there to guide him when he makes mistakes while playing the piano and lastly,

Who would he run onto when his life is being torn apart, he only realizes it now but Venti meant everything to him. Venti was, his happiness.

Weeks passed and Venti grew pale and weaker each day, it pains Xiao seeing him like that, it was already painful seeing Venti on a hospital robe insted of his ordinary school uniform. Sometimes Venti couldn't lift up his his pen or his spoon, then he'll just laugh it off acting as if he was okay.

"Xiao! It's raining hurry let's go outside!"

"We can't, you're sick"

"Come on! This is the last time pleaseee Xiaoo!!"

"Wait no hold on—"

"Finally! A breathe of fresh air, doesn't the smell inside the hospital suffocate you?"

This, this was the Venti he knew, not the one who was locked inside that hospital room for weaks. Venti, he shines brighter under the rain, he missed this side of Venti.

Venti stood there and smiled at him, waiting for Xiao to run to him.

The rain stoppef and the night was coming to an end and Xiao wished the rain lasted longer, it's another day inside Venti's hospital soom as usual.

"Xiao, you won't be able to come tomorrow morning right?"

"Yes, I have plans tomorrow morning so I'll be seeing you in the evening instead"

"Okay, do me a favor would you?"

"A favor? I don't usually do this but I'll do it just for today, what is it?"

"Hehe!..The keyboard in my apartment, can bring it here?"

"The keyboard? Why? You have a piano here in your room already"

"It's a special keyboard! Plus it's hard to get up and walk to the piano, the tiny keyboard would be much better"

"Alright then.."

"Go on and stay at Keqing's house for tonight Ganyu, I'll go quickly pick something up on Venti's place"

"Okay! Take us there someday too!"

"You should call Venti and ask for permission first Ganyu"

"Where did he place his keyboard again?..ah found it!"

"Whats this?" There was an organized pile of paper on top of the keyboard, and a piece of paper with words and numbers written on it.

Xiao if you're reading this, there are wishes and things i wanted to say to you, but my time is short and if i did say this directly to you it would hurt both of us more.

To tell you the truth Xiao, if you didn't come in through that door in the club room and i hadn't met you, my life would've been miserable. I would've died having a miserable life, thank you Xiao, for painting my life with colors. I wish to hold your hand again, im dying to see you before the last second of my life passes.

The Band festival i always talked to you about, i want you to be my hands and feet, i want you to go there and perform in my place.

I want you to continue playing the piano, you have a talent for it and you seemed happy playing one whenever i was teaching you.

And lastly, I wish for you to forget me and move on forward. I never taught you the last part of the song you loved didn't I? Learn it yourself, see this as a step to forget about me.

I want you to do the things i dreamed of doing Xiao, don't miss me too much do you understand?

I love you more than anything else, more than playing the piano and more than getting to be out of the hospital, if I were to get reborn again, I want to meet you under the rain and embrace you tightly not wanting to let you go. You made living possible for me, sincerely yours -Venti

Xiao's heart dropped, and tears fell from his eyes, he shouldn't be there crying, he should be by Venti's side right now.

Xiao ran straight to Venti's hospital room, the doctors were surrounding his hospital bed, the monitor wasn't beeping, his IV tube was removed and his oxygen mask was removed.

Venti who was always warm was now cold, he wasn't moving, he wasn't there smiling at Xiao. Xiao's world crumbled to pieces, he never got to express his love to Venti, nor tell him how much loved him, how much he brighten up his miserable and dark world.

"We'll leave the room for a minute sir"

Xiao's world is back to being dark and miserable again, a world without Venti, without Venti's touch, without Venti's warmth.

"For the time..for the time i spent w-with you..i have loved you, and i will continue to love you until the day my time comes, and i get to feel your touch again" Tears dropped and muffled cries filled the room, Xiao placed a light kiss on Venti's forehead before leaving the room after an hour of endless crying came to an end.
