Arabella...
Arabella...!
ARABELLA!!
My father's voice enter my mind as I tried to comprehend what was happening. He comes barging into my room causing my red eyes to shift to his attention. He was dressed in his usual business attire while my body struggles to sit up. Unfortunately for me, I'm not like the other teens at my school I have large black wings with a wingspan bigger than my person. They flop along my bed and slightly onto my floor as I try to blink the sleep from my eyes.
"Arabella, I've been calling your name for over 10 minutes. You have school, get up!" His voice was strick as always. "And hide those wings of yours, your boyfriends are downstairs waiting," he finished and walked away.
"Boyfriends?" I question, my brain not functioning properly.
Peter and Ned! My wings puff up in irritation thinking about those boys. I moved to New York with my father a couple of months ago in hopes of starting a new sense he was a scientist. My long black hair was sticking up in every direction and my bangs weren't helping as I tried to tame them. Finally, I was able to get my hair to cooperate before throwing on a dark button-up covered by a baggy brown, chunky sweater. My pale legs slipped into some skinny jeans before I could feel my wings slip into my shoulder blades. It's a very painful process but I've been doing it since I was born so it's a piece of cake. Stepping over to my nightstand, I placed a pair of black round glasses on my face so as to calm down my eye site. Being part bird comes with it quirks so I have to keep them at bay in certain aspects.
Walking over to my wall-length mirror I comb my hair upwards causing my pin-straight hair to curl slightly upward giving it a buffy bird look. Satisfied with my look I make my way downstairs, coming face to face with my mortal enemies. Peter and Ned wave at me with a smile.
"Took the sleeping princess long enough," Ned playful remarked as they watched me slip on a pair of schoolgirl platforms and my banged-up school bag.
They followed me out of my apartment complex, trailing behind me like lost puppies. The two struggled to keep up with me as we walked to school.
"Arabella, slow down you long-legged gazelle," Peter huffed finally reaching up to me.
"I'm only 5'9" also could you stop showing up at my house unannounced, " I remarked.
"Yeah, you're taller than us, especially for a sophomore!" Ned complained.
I rolled my eyes as the three of us enter middle town high, home of technologically advanced students. Me being part of those weirdos, but the two next to me were worse. They watch as a smirk fiddles across my face before we enter our first class of the day which happened to be English II. Unfornanetly for me again the three of us shared the same class. My butt found the desk near the window which showed the turn colors of New York city as Ned and Peter sit next to me. From behind, Peter taps my shoulder causing me to turn around. Before he could even get a word in Flash Thompson, the school bully takes the seat in front of me and turns the chair around to face the three of us. He cracks a smile before his reached voice peaks through.
"So, has our queen of darkness found herself a date to the school dance yet?" he teases.
I could feel both Ned and Peter tense next to me as my leg folds over the other, "Whos asking? It certainly couldn't be you beave damn."
Peter grips my shoulder trying not to laugh alongside Ned. Flash flips his stupid curly hair before he looks at me through the side of his eye.
"Well, I was going to see if you wanted to come with your prince in shining armor away from these low peasants, but, it seems her majesty isn't worthy of such a request," his smirk falls noticing my unamused face.
