(5 years ago: Anastasia & Aurora are 16, and Giovanni and Dante are 17)
(Narrator/Third POV):
Anastasia and Giovanni have known to be the only two out of their friend group who rarely get along. But they would do anything to make sure the other one is safe and out of harm, and everyone besides them can tell they have feelings for each other but are in denial. Anastasia and Aurora are getting ready for a ball, and Anastasia is upset that her father made Giovanni her escort.
(Anastasia's POV):
I hate that I have to be escorted by Giovanni; he and I haven't ever gotten along. I get taken out of my thoughts when Aurora walks back into my room. "Anna come on; you knew one day he was going to be your escort since both of your dads are best friends." She said to me as she sat down on my bed. "I know, Rory, but why now like I've been looking forward to this for so long, and it's been ruined." I got up and started doing my makeup. "Anna, you never know how it might go, and since both of your dads will be there, he might play nice today," Rory told me with a smirk on her face. "Oh shit yeah, I forgot he's told to be a gentleman during these events. Never mind then, this day isn't going that bad," I told Rory. When it comes to these gatherings, our dads have made it clear that no one is supposed to fool around.
"Girls, are you ready? We need to head out." My mom asks us. "Yes, Mom, we're coming," I picked up my purse and phone.
Aurora and I reached the venue door simultaneously as Giovanni and Dante.
(Giovanni's POV):
Dante and I reached the venue, and I could already tell Anna was unhappy about our fathers' escort decision, but who am I to judge? Neither was I. But she looked hot in that dress. Wait, no, what am I thinking? No, she's the same annoying girl who will bug me about this dance in a few minutes.
I walked up to her, put on a fake smile, and held my arm out. "My lady, let's head on in," I said, knowing she would hate that. "Giovanni, I swear, don't get on my nerves right now," she said then we walked inside.
We all gathered around the table while Mr. Russo thanked everyone for coming and updating all the allies on the next mission.
I went to the bar and grabbed a drink, and then I looked over and saw Anna sitting and looking upset while drinking.
(Anastasia's POV):
I just had a massive argument with my dad, and so the only way I know how to drown my anger is to drink. So I went over to the bar and asked the bartender for six tequila shots. I downed then quickly and then asked for a bourbon. I then looked over and saw Giovanni walk up to me. He might end up dead if he comes here to annoy me because I'm not in the mood for jokes.
"Hey, you ok?" He said as he sat down next to me with his drink. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said, then sipped my drink. "No, you're not Anna; we've known each other our whole life, so I know when you're upset." He said as he placed his hand on my back. I felt this strange feeling, and I know he did as well since he quickly moved his hand.
"I got into an argument with my dad about something," I said after a few minutes and didn't realize the tears that started slipping from my eyes. I then felt his thumb brush against my cheek and wipe away the tears. I'm not sure if it's the alcohol or something; he looked really hot, and we both just looked into each other's eyes, then we kissed, and I felt this spark I'd never felt before with him.
(Giovanni's POV):
I didn't even realize my hand was on her back, and I quickly moved it, she told me she had an argument with her dad, and then I looked up and saw tears falling from her eyes, which broke me. I took my thumb and wiped her tears, and saw her gray eyes full of pain. After a few minutes, I leaned down and kissed her. I felt this spark with her I've never felt before with her.
