Chapter 10: Strangers Again

(Anastasia's POV):

My parents just returned from their trip, I am headed to their place to meet them. Gio couldn't make it since his dad needed to discuss something with him.

"Ciao mamma, how was your trip?" I said as I walked inside. "Ciao mi amore, the trip was wonderful. But your father has been wanting to speak to you since we got back." She said as we walked towards the living room. Gio gave me a confused look. "Oh ok, where is he?" I asked. "He's in his office, he's expecting you." She said then I walked over to his office.

I knocked on his office and walked in. "Ciao Anastasia" he said with a hint of disappointment in his voice, which wasn't new to me. "Ciao papa, you were wanting to speak with me?" I asked as I took a seat. "Anna since I've been gone we have lost so much in the business and lost so many deals, what have you been doing? I feel like I made a mistake letting you take over." He asked.

Was he being serious? He was only gone for a bit and blames me for this. I decided to ignore his comment and not let it get to me. "Papa, I spoke with the dealers last night and we are working with them again." I said. "Anna I think you being in a relationship is messing with your ability to work. I think it's best if you and Gio separate and only be business partners." He told me, which pissed me off. "What?! Are you being serious Papa? What does my personal life have to do with my professional life? And what makes you think I would consider breaking up with Gio over a few deals that we lost, which for your information again I'm trying to get back" I said as I stood up from my seat in anger.

Little did I know Gio had made his decisions.....

(Giovanni's POV):

I hated letting Anna go to her parent's house alone but my dad needed me to discuss something urgent so I'm at one of our bases headed to his office.

I knocked on his door and heard a "come in". "Son, I have to tell you something very important, please sit down." I did as told. "Gio, Antonio and I have decided that for the safety of the business, you and Anna can no longer be in a relationship. As you know Anna went through a lot recently and Antonio and I are upset about the deals we lost. So you both should remain business partners and nothing more than that. I don't want to hear any no's or anything about why you can't." My father said to me as everything came crashing down.

What will I do now?

How will I tell Anna?

"Anna already knows about this son, Antonio is speaking to her about it today." My father said. Did I just think that out loud? I was pulled from my thoughts when my father got up from his chair. "Gio, go home and talk to Anna, I have another meeting to attend, I want an update from you by tonight and it better be that you both are just business partners now. Ciao" Before I could answer him back he left.

I left the warehouse and headed to Anna's place after getting a text from her to meet up.

I pulled up to Anna's place and went inside. "Gio you won't believe what bullshit my father just came up with and told me." She said. "I know Anna, my father told me and I think it's the best option for now." I said as I saw her whole body freeze up. "What? You're joking right? GIO YOU BETTER BE JOKING!" She said as she walked closer to me. "I wish I was Anna..." I said. "What the fuck Gio, are you really going to let our fathers decide what's best for us? After everything we just went through...did you happen to forget that?" She said to me as tears started to appear in her eyes which broke my heart. "No Anna I didn't forget anything but at the same time I can't say no to my father." I said as I saw a tear fall down her face, I went to go wipe it but she backed away. "Don't come close to me please" she said.

(Anastasia's POV):

I felt everything around me shut down. "Was us just a joke to you again? I stood up for us to my father, I fought with him for having such a stupid idea and told him neither of us would agree to it. But seems like I was wrong...I wish I never trusted or let you back into my life again Gio. I'm such a fool for that, I thought our relationship was stronger." I said to him as I wiped my tears. "Anna that's not true, you're the most important person in my life and I'm doing this to protect you." Did he really just say he's ending our relationship to protect me? "What do you mean by protecting me? I don't want or need protection, if you forget I'm the most feared assassin and leader." I told him. Does he think I'm that weak I can't protect myself? I saw him come closer to me but I stepped back again, this wasn't the same Gio I thought I knew. "Stop coming close to me." I told him. "Anna, what the fuck has gotten into you? Just because you don't have a good relationship with your dad doesn't mean I don't have one, for me it's always family first and you're making me out to be the bad guy." He said. "Oh, sorry I didn't know I was just an outsider to you." I said. "Fuck, no Anna that's not what I meant ." He said as he ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "No no that's the real you that's speaking in anger, the truth always comes out." I said as I walked to the door and opened it. "Sorry I don't allow strangers and outsiders into my house, you've overstayed your welcome, please leave Gio." I said. "Anna no you're taking it the wrong way." He said as he walked towards me and held my hand. "Gio I said please leave, I don't want to see you right now anymore." I said as I let go of his hand. "I'm really sorry about this Anna." He sighed and walked out the door. I closed my door and leaned against it.

I got a text from Aurora in our group chat a moment later

Rory: Hey guys, are we still on for
the double movie date tonight?

                                        Me: I can't make it, something
                                                                   important came up, you all have fun.

Gio: I can't make it as well,
dad needs me at the warehouse

Rory: Alright no worries,
we can reschedule.

I put my phone down and went to my room and changed out of my clothes and tried to go to bed.
