Chapter 7

Rainie’s P.<3.V

“What in the world are you doing here?!” I exclaimed at the sight of Jordan.

“What are you doing here?” Jordan shot back.

            “Uhm, actually I live here,”

“Wow, that makes everything kinda weird,” He chuckled and scratched the back of his head.

“So uhm, can you answer my question?” I asked.

“What? Oh! Yea, I’m actually tutoring Cameron, who I suppose is your brother? Ms. Shay- I mean your mom kind of hired me to tutor him in math,” He chuckled awkwardly.

I nodded and said, “Oh, that’s nice of you, I didn’t think you’d be that type of person,”

“That type of person?” He lifted and eyebrow at me. I looked down at Cameron who had no idea what was going on, then looked back up at Jordan.

“ Yea, that kind of person,” I flinged  one hand up in the air sarcastically and tried to keep myself from falling, “The one that throws crazy parties, get drunk, hit on all the girls, and always gets in trouble.”

He burst out laughing and stood up. Then he got real close to me and whispered in my ear, “You forgot that I’m smart too,”

His breath was warm and tickled my ear when he spoke. I tried backing up but ended up almost crashing to the floor. Curse those crutches.

Jordan smirked and sat back down across from Cameron.

“Maybe I could tutor your sis too,” he sent a wink towards me and Cameron let out a childish giggle.

            “Maybe,” Cameron chirped.

I grunted and grabbed a Washington apple off the table counter, then laid my crutches down and sank into the cool leather couch in front of the living room television. I don’t know why Jordan bothered me and made me feel weird. Maybe it was how his smile looked like Shon, or how he smelled like Shon’s favorite cologne, ocean breeze. But no. I can’t think like that, Jordan’s dangerous. How could Jesse like someone like him? Ugh, am I suppose to dislike him though?

After about an hour, Jordan finally left. As my front door slammed shut, I slumped deeper into the couch and turned off the t.v. Cameron came over and sat next to me, I looked at him and he looked at me. I tilted my head a bit then a soft whisper escaped his lips.

            “Rainie?”

            “Yes Cam?”

“I like Shon better than him,”

That made me silent. Tears welled up in my eyes but I knew that I couldn’t cry especially in front of Cameron, so I turned around and wiped the corners of my eyes quickly.

“Yea, me too,” I said softly with my throat dry.

Shon’s P.O.V

I watched every move of Rainie, I missed her. A lot. It hurt me that in the end, she will have to move on and I’ll be gone. It hurt me, that after my mission of protecting her is completed, I won’t even be able to kelt with her.
