Thunder rumbles in the distance, the dark grey – nearly black – clouds hanging ominously overhead. Anakin hasn't been on Naboo enough times to know how frequently it rains, but something about this time make it stick out as particularly appropriate. The Separatists are attacking the planet, after all.

Separatist tanks and a battleship surround him on all side. At least they have one advantage; Grievous wasn't expecting Anakin to be here. He wasn't expecting the Republic would be able to show up and convince the Gungans not to aid in the Separatist march on Theed.

"You're surrounded, General. Surrender," Anakin advises, reaching over and nudging the motionless battle droids standing on either side of him.

Because the droid general thought they were still on the same side, they were able to tell the entire army to shut down.

With the slight move, all the droids around them began collapsing. Grievous releases a furious growl as all the droids fall to the ground, leaving him alone against them. "Never," the cyborg snarls, withdrawing two of his lightsabers and igniting them.

The Gungans spring into action first, leaping down from their perches from behind and around the Separatist tanks, throwing energy balls at Grievous.

He tries to block the blasts, but several of them hit him anyway, sending electricity jolting through him. Anakin finally ignites his own lightsaber, running forwards to attack the general.

He can't fight him the same way he normally does, because he can hardly use his own strength against of being of fully metal. His blades clash into a saberlock with Grievous, only for the cyborg to suddenly reach up with his foot, picking up Anakin by his robes and throwing him.

Anakin crashes to the ground a distance away, rolling and coming to a stop right next to one of the tanks. He hastily starts pushing himself up again, ignoring the dizziness he's feeling from hitting his head on the ground so hard.

The Gungans all attack again, throwing various electrified weapons at Grievous. "Mesa help!" Jar Jar exclaims suddenly, reaching over and snatching up a spear of his own.

"Jar Jar, no!" Anakin warns, but the Gungans isn't listening to him.

Jar Jar runs forwards, naïve enough to believe there's actually something he can do against Grievous at close range like that.

Anakin runs after, but he doesn't move fast enough. Several of the Gungans' poles, lodge in between the cracks of Grievous' prosthetic limbs, but it only seems to infuriate him further. He lunges forwards, in a swift move cutting Jar Jar's weapon in half, one of his lightsabers stabbing straight through the Gungan's body.

"Jar Jar!" screams Anakin in horror, unable to do anything as one of his oldest and closest friends dies. He's moving before he even registers the thought, Force throwing Grievous backwards hard enough that he crashes into the ship, landing on the ground, stunned. The Gungans swarm him, pinning him down, but Anakin doesn't care.

He should care that Grievous has been captured, but he doesn't, because Jar Jar is dead. He falls next to the Gungan's side, knowing already that it's too late.

(You were captured, reminds the voice, the faintest prickle of pain following the words, and this time, Anakin wonders.)

They need to move quickly if they're going to get out of here. Anakin and Obi-Wan hurry through the silent halls of the Mandalorian prison, finally reaching Satine's cell. Anakin might not know her that well, but he knows how close her and Obi-Wan are, and he respects her a lot. Besides, she doesn't deserve this fate.
