Ryker Jay Bennet...
"Heaven."
The owner of the name blinked away the shock, trying her hardest to push it aside as she looked back at him.
Ryker.
"Y-yeah... I just-I dropped him off."she nodded as she spoke, cutting off their eye contact once she felt too much. Everything was too much.
"I'll go." she whispered, turning her back and leaving the father and son to their own.
She heard some ruckus behind her but stopped herself from looking back. She won't earn anything good by associating herself with their family.
She just wanted to make sure that Hudson made it safe home.
And now he is.
It was time for her to leave.
Ignoring Ryker's voice, Heaven continued to walk away from their house. She didn't look back, not once. She even tried her hardest to block out his voice and just focus on the houses that she could see.
She somehow made it home without a hitch. She was grateful getting home safe, but she didn't know how.
Heaven felt as if her mind was floating, her thoughts were scattered everywhere.
It was a good thing that her father was still at his workshop, and that he won't come back until tomorrow. They were busy because of the upcoming festival.
It was a miracle that she slept. She felt like all her brain did was remind her of the past, remind her of what happened.
All she did was stare at the ceiling, the sweet scent of the lavender candle by her bedside wafting to her nose as her thoughts ran around.
They didn't even talk, Ryker and her. It was only a gaze, a look of what they had become after nine years.
It was only a look... yet her heart felt like it was going to burst. The emotions were too much.
Fear. Sadness. Pain...
Betrayal.
It all washed over her like a wave once their eyes made contact. She thought that she had accepted everything and put it behind her. She thought that she had somehow moved on.
But no. The emotions she felt when she saw him were no imagination.
She still felt it. Everything.
It was too much that she didn't even cry. Tears didn't pool in her eyes, much to her surprise. She thought that seeing him would break down the wall that she had tried so hard to build. She thought that she'd break and let everything out if she saw him.
No.
She just... felt it.
She didn't cry, didn't choke in tears. She was simply registering their interaction.
It only made her think of all the possibilities. Of the 'what if's' and the 'hows', especially the 'why's'.
There were so many emotions yet she still felt empty.
All at the same time, she felt everything yet nothing at all.
She didn't quite understand it.
It only made her more confused than she already was.
That night, she fell into a dreamless sleep. And throughout the weekend, Heaven couldn't find it in her to concentrate on anything. Her mind kept flashing back when she saw him by their house, together with his son.
