I woke up in a warm bed, with a cold pack on my head, and people talking in soft voices nearby. My legs felt like lead, and my body ached in every way. I sat up, my head spun, I groaned in pain. The people talking near came rushing over.

"Lie back down, Rome" an old voice said

"Merlin?" I asked while holding my head

"yes, Merlins here" Adare's voice came in

"it's okay we're in the safe book" then Leia came in with miso soup on a gold tray. I tried to get my head around what had happened.

"Someone please tell me what happened, and how long was I out for" I said weakly

"well, as you know we were in the castle and then we were in her room and you looked really pale and scared." Adare said "then you did something and then fell onto the floor and then that wooden, dragon gargoyle out the front, came in breathing ice and chased us; luckily you still had your bag and you have been out for only around 8 hours"

"8 whole hours!" I sighed

"what happened with you?" Leia cut in.

"So, you know how I said I could feel that we were near her room but not on that level. Well, what I felt was, what I think is black magic. That is why I was scared. Then when we were in her room the magic was really strong and I could literally see the magic hovering around the desk." I recalled

"you went towards black magic that you could see and feel!?" Adare said worry lines creased on his forehead

"Yes, and what would you have done?"

"Been a sensible person and not have gone to touch the dark magic mass!"

"Yeah, but I knew that's where if she was hiding anything that would be where it is, and I was right before I passed out, I felt a book."

"What did the book feel like?" Merlin asked, stroking his long bead

"It felt like leather, but really rough and sharp," I answered

"well, that would explain the grazes on your hands," Leia said. I uncurled my hand and looked at my hands; they had grazes all over blood dripped off some of the cuts but what caught my eye the most was a long, deep gash across my left hand. Blood had stained bed sheets and was pouring out of the wound.

"we need to get that fixed" Adare said looking at the gash "that looks deep" I gave him a pained smile.

The boys walked into another room and Leia dressed my hand and started to bandage it. "Leia, what happened to your eye?" I asked, pointing to a dark mark around her eye.

"oh, that," Leia said. "That's from the gargoyle, through a stick, but I guess it is technically it was its skin but that's beside the point. It hit me." She turned around to find some pain relief, I saw a spot of dark, red blood and a small stick produced out of the back of her leg. How hadn't I noticed that! She came back into the room and noticed me staring at her.

"Rome, why are you staring at me?" she asked,

"Leia do you know that you have a really bad splinter?" She turned her head and looked at the back of her.

"About that, when Adare grabbed you and me and ran out of the house the gargoyle threw another stick and most of it missed but that bit, got me? If that makes sense" she explained

"so here you are playing nurse, dressing my wounds. With a stick coming out of your leg?! Doesn't it hurt? Why haven't Adare and Merlin done anything about it?" I asked with concern

"To start off, my brother and Merlin don't know about it and yes it hurts but not a lot." She said quickly

"shouldn't you tell them? Why didn't you tell them? Please don't say you didn't want to be fussed over." I said

"I haven't told them yet because you were in an odd state with blood everywhere, you were hot and then you were cold, and I didn't want them to worry about another thing, and I don't know if I should tell them!" she cried. I put my good hand on her shoulder

"you should tell them, and next time you get hurt please tell someone" I soothed

"okay, I will tell them." She said confidently "tell who what" Adare and Merlin had walked back into the room. Leia suddenly went silent,

"Leia you need to tell them" I whispered then I said in a regular tone "Leia has something to tell you, she is going to tell you now" the last sentence was directed mostly to Leia but, as well as the boys.

"Have you been keeping ickle secrets?" Adare teased.

Leia blushed "I guess. When we ran out of the house from the stick dragon, I got a splinter."

"That's not a splinter Leia!" Adare almost screamed.
