XVII

It passed two month in the forest since the youngest members were captured, since Bahiyyih joined Soobin and Yeonjun into the journey to reach the abandoned city located south of the peninsula.
It was only two months before the baby was born and Yeonjun, since that, couldn't walk for long distances without a break or two, so their journey slowed down a lot, but Soobin and Bahiyyih weren't so pissed by the situation, they were both really careful about Yeonjun's conditions and needs, always making sure their journey wasn't so stressful nor dangerous, always making sure he didn't skip meals.
Soobin, obviously, was both nervous and excited with the idea that soon he would become a dad, he already loved his baby and he would sleep the whole night as Puma to keep his husband and his tum warm.
The three were now walking in the forest, moving a lot during the day as they did always when Bahiyyih and Soobin smelled the air making it was a safe path the one they were walking.
Yeonjun's pregnancy led them to be extremely more cautious with their surroundings, they also had to face and fight a lot of dangers to keep him and the baby safe, the scars on their bodies were proof of that.
The two immediately smelled the scent of werewolves and humans coming from east and west.
Soobin immediately looked at Bahiyyih, giving her orders.
Soobin: "Guys we have to walk a little faster, Yeonjun can you do that?"
Yeonjun: "I'll try"
Soobin: "We have hunters and werewolves on our heels, come on!"
They started going a bit faster, they transformed into pumas, but it wasn't enough, Soobin took them to a hiding to elaborate a plan.
Soobin: "Bahiyyih take Yeonjun to a safe place, go hide, I try to distract them"
Bahiyyih: "Alright, come on Yeonjun let's go!"
Soobin: "Wait... If I don't come back... Take care of them, promise me you'll take care of them"
Bahiyyih: "I promise, don't worry, they're in good hands"
Soobin: "I know, I'll try my best"
Yeonjun: "No! You can't leave please! I can't do it without you, I want our child to know you, I want to see you with his in your arms, please! Don't go, please!"
Soobin: "I'm sorry my love, but we can't risk it, if I don't do it now they might hurt you or kill you and the baby, it's too dangerous... You'll be a great father, I know"
Soobin kissed Yeonjun, a desperate, loving kiss, perhaps their last kiss, and lightly kissed the elder's belly, Yeonjun burst into tears, while Soobin's eyes were teary.
Soobin: "Now go"
Bahiyyih took Yeonjun away from that area, while Soobin went up against the werewolves at east.
He turned into his huge Puma and with a tear running down his face he attacked one of them.
The wolf howled in pain with the strength in which Soobin was biting his paw.
But the Puma didn't have time to part ways from the first wolf, when two other knocked him down, one grabbed him by the neck, while the other had his teeth gripping in his back.
From his throat came a roar of pain that spread throughout the forest, his fur was already covered in blood, but he wasn't going to give up.

Yeonjun in the mean time, heard his husband roar through the forest and the, now bigger, wound in his heart made his legs tremble, the tears, that for a few seconds had stopped flowing on his face, returned more salty and painful than before.
Bahiyyih as a result of the roar turned into a Puma, continuing walking with Yeonjun next to him, at the end they found a crack in some rocks where to hide and be safe.
Yeonjun: "Do you think he's dead?"
Bahiyyih: "I don't know, let's wait and see if he comes, I'm sure he's gonna make it this time too"

Another wolf attacked Soobin at his thigh, making impossible for him to walk again, but with all the strength he had in his body Soobin managed to free himself from the four animals.
He stood up limping, but with a determination worthy of a king who protects his own, his eyes were shining of withe the color of the forest around him, his figure standing firm and majestic in front of the four werewolves.

He was the real leader of his Pumas, he was the one who supported Yeonjun in every situation, the one who comforted him, the one who always took care of the members, made sure they were safe, the one who was leading them to their new home.
Everyone referred to him as leader, as guidance through hard times and their everyday life, even if it had never been anything official, he was the king of the forest, the king of all the Pumas.

Soobin growled from the bottom of his soul ready for another round, he didn't care if he lost his life, he would protect his family and his friends at all costs.
The previously wounded wolf jumped on top of him and Soobin from underneath slashed his belly with a bite and killed him by piercing the cold heart of that animal.
The other three wolves took their revenge in no time, they jumped on him together.
Soobin fought them one by one, with one paw cut some deep wounds on the leg of one of them, another one he bitten him and throw him away tearing a part of the skin from the animal, the last one of the wolf Soobin bitten him on the tail dragging him away.
As Soobin would fought till the end to keep safe his family, the four werewolves would fought to protect their pack.
Two of the wolves attacked him, one pushed him to the ground making him bang his head, one blocked his legs with his jaws, the other one blocked his shoulder.
Soobin remained there unable to move, while the third approached his neck now free to that bite that would have taken his life shortly thereafter.
Soobin began to cry, that was his last breath, he wouldn't have being able to see his son, his family ever again... His life was about to end, just a second before everything was gone.
The third wolf limped towards him and with a faint voice he said his last wishes, his last words.
Soobin: "I'm sorry I left you alone with our son, I'm sorry I didn't come back, I'll watch over you two forever, I swear...I love you Yeonjun, d-don't forget me"
He closed his eyes and before dark he felt the skin of his belly being torn apart and the wolf's teeth piercing his skin.

Yeonjun and Bahiyyih waited for hours Soobin's return, as time passed by the chances of him being alive were becoming less and less.
Yeonjun: "We should go Hiyyih!" He said with a shaky voice.
Bahiyyih: "Not until Soobin's back"
Yeonjun: "Hiyyih... He won't come back... It's gone for too long"
Bahiyyih: "Please don't say it"
Yeonjun: "He's dead Hiyyih"
They both cried together before continuing their journey.
When Yeonjun and Bahiyyih stopped to rest was the middle of the night, the tears in Yeonjun's eyes weren't going to stop, he was exhausted, both his back and legs ached, his hands were shaking like leaves and his voice was broken by the sobbing.
Yeonjun: "I lost him Bahiyyih, I lost him forever, he died and-"
He didn't even finish the sentence, that his sobs shook him again.
Bahiyyih: "Yeonjun, I have no idea what you are going through right now, but the more you stress yourself the more the baby will get hurt, I'm so sorry for your loss... I think this is the biggest loss you've ever had and I know I can't do much to help you, but you have to focus on your child now, the baby that soon you'll give birth to"
She said being the strong one, taking care of him as Soobin worded her.
Yeonjun: "Our baby will never see him, he will never know his father! Why did it have to end like this?"
Bahiyyih hugged him and stroked his neck like a mother consoling her child, she said nothing.
They lay down hugged together, Yeonjun put his hands on his belly, Hiyyih put her's on his hands, making sure he could feel every movement of his son.
Bahiyyih: "Can you hear your baby?"
Yeonjun: "Of course"
Bahiyyih: "Can you hear the little heart beating?"
Yeonjun: "Yes"
Bahiyyih: "Think that that little heart that beats is Soobin's one, think that that little heart is yours and his hearts together, joined to create a little work of art, maybe Soobin is no longer here, but a part of him will always be with your child forever"
Yeonjun smiled her sweet words.
Yeonjun: "This is beautiful, thank you"
Bahiyyih: "Sure, I'll always be here with you and your baby when you need me"
Yeonjun hugged her and then they fell asleep next to each other to keep the older warm.
