His saving grace

Chapter 4: The night I knew I loved him

A bright light was shining through the window as Jc was opening her eyes at first she didn't know where she was but then she realized, she was in the med bay and to even more of her surprise Bucky was asleep right next to her. Just then a nurse walked in "Ah you're awake great let me go alert The Director and get someone in here to check you out, would you like me to wake Mr. Branes for you?" "No its fine let him sleep thank you though." as she walked away Jc asked her something "How long has he been here?" she smiled "Well you've been asleep for a little under 2 days so about the same time wouldn't leave you, said he wanted to be here when you woke up." and with that she left to go get Furry. Soon after they walked in the room and Furry rushed to get to her "Hey sweetheart I'm sorry I should have known what was going on." she slightly smiles "There's no way you could have known I didn't even know don't worry I'm fine." just then she heard groaning "Shh let him sleep." For the next hour and a half they talked and nurses came into check on her. 

"So you're going to have to take it easy these next couple of weeks you don't want to do more damage then there already is." and after a very long few hours he woke up and she had never been more happy to see his eyes "Hey doll!" he got up and hugged her so tight she thought she was going to snap in half "Hey Bucky." she wrapped her arms around him and when he let go he just looked at her "What's wrong?" she looked confused "Nothing I'm just mad at the team and myself for letting you go-" she cut him off "Hey there's no way you could have know this was gonna happen ok so don't beat yourself up ok?" he let out a sigh "Yea I know but I though that I was never going to see you again I got scared." and in that moment it didn't matter how long she knew him it was obvious that she loved him. She began to smile and he got a confused look on his face " What's wrong did I say something wrong?" she smiled even harder "No you didn't I'm just really happy you moved back to New York." he started smiling too "Yea me too." 

After about 2 weeks Jc still hadn't talked to Tony she was still a little mad at him after all he was the one who choose her to go on the mission but she was also mad at the others too. They all let it happen and didn't tell her, she went in blindsided and almost died she had a right to be mad so she closed them out for the first week. After that week Nat and Wanda had apologized to much so Jc let them in and after that she let the rest of them in but not Tony he had made no effort to say sorry or even talk to her he was being a complete ass and she was done. Through all this Bucky was right next to her helping her bath, getting her ready for the day, getting her back to sleep when she had a nightmare he had been so patient and they had gotten so much closer but still they never crossed that line. "You know I can get my own cereal right?" Bucky laughed "Yes I know but I like doing things for you so sit down and let me" she gave up and rested back in the bar stole "The doctor said I was cleared back into the field and done with physical therapy so that's good but Furry won't clear me and I don't know why." he sighed "Its cause he's worried about you and doesn't want you to get hurt you have to be patient and show him how bad you want to get back in the field it will take time." "I have! but he won't listen and I feel like he's holding me back and trying to be my dad I hate it!" Bucky put the bowl down on the counter and walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders "I know but he just wants the best for you we all do and that means you being all better now eat." she laughed and started eating. Jc had been with him a lot and the more she was with him the more she loved him and it's been like that sense the night she woke up. 

The rest of the day was spent sitting on the couch watching movies and eating popcorn when the main door to their corridor opened and who walked in surprised both of them. Bucky spoke first cause Jc was already mad "What do you want Stark?" and he was just as mad "I wanted to speak to Jc if she's up to it." she let out a breath "Um yea that's fine we can go to the library." she got up and he followed "What's up Tony?" she sat down on the couch and he sat down across from her "I wanted to apologize for what I did, sending you on that mission knowing that you could get hurt was extremely wrong of me and I'm very sorry, I was angry and out of line and I swear on my life it will never happen again. You know I love you and care for you like my own and what I did to you I did out of anger and I take full responsibility for all of it." he looked like he meant it and she knew he did so she got up and did one thing he didn't expect she hugged him. "I forgive you, but if you ever do something to hurt me or him I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish." he knew exactly who she was speaking of "Yea I know and by the way it's obvious that you both love each other so you might want to tell him before one of the idiots upstairs does" they were both laughing but she knew he was right. After their talk Tony left and Jc went back to her movie and for the first time since she woke up everything feels like its going to be ok.
