Chapter 9

His mother suddenly felt like a giant in his eyes as she slowly walked toward him, giving Taehyung a deathly stare. Jimin noticed from the corner of his eyes how confused Taehyung was.  He quickly scrambled to his feet and bowed his head.

"Good evening halmeoni"

"Keep your greetings!" Yeon Seo said curtly. She narrowed her eyes at Jimin and said in a harsh tone.

"What on earth do you think you're doing at this time of the night?"

Jimin was mumbling unable to speak coherently for five seconds. Finally, he found his tongue and spoke.

"It's not what you think?"

"Oh really?" She nodded her head.

"Get up now! We're heading home now"

Jimin quickly nodded and ran towards her. She noticed the small bag in his hand.

"What's that?"

"Drugs"

Her eyes flashed knowingly. She sighed heavily and frowned at Taehyung.

"Young man, I hope not to see you with my son ever again"

The puzzled expression on Taehyung's face grew larger and Jimin couldn't wait to leave.

"Let's go!" His mother ordered and he darted off as quickly as he could. The awkwardness between them was so full right from the bus ride to the house. His mother said nothing. She didn't even look at him again. When they finally reached home, Jimin thought he could finally escape to the safety of his room but his mom was faster stopping him in his tracks.

"Stop right there!"

Jimin gulped and turned round to face his mother. She had a disappointed look on her face as she dumped her handbag on the couch and folded her arms ready to scold her son.

"Who is that suspicious young man?"

"What?"

"Don't play dumb with me. The one you were about to lock lips with if I hadn't caught you red-handed"

Jimin tightened his lips and whispered. "His name is Kim Taehyung. He's just a friend!"

"A friend? So you go ahead kissing your friend on the lips in public is that it?"

"We didn't kiss!" Jimin yelled.

"But you sure as hell was about to if I hadn't butted in"

Jimin didn't say anything. Yeon Seo sighed tiredly

"I know it looks like I'm being incredibly harsh but I'm only a mother who is worried about you. I don't want you to live a life of shame if you end up making a mistake"

"I've seen the kind of lives herrings like you go through especially when they make the mistake of getting pregnant and it's not a pleasant one. They suffer great prejudice"

"I don't want that for you"

She sighed. "You would have been much safer if you liked girls but you had to like boys. How unfortunate that is"

She shook her head and sat down, tapping her foot restlessly.

"I noticed how handsome that boy is. He looks dreamy, straight out from a fairy tale. Understandably, you feel he's the sun and the moon right now but think about it..."

"Would he really accept you for who you really are? If something happens to you, will he be there? Will he stand by your side?"

"Think about this carefully before diving into anything Jimin"
